Name a socialist who's been in a Labour government since 1979?

Thought not.

I detest them every bit as much as I do the current bunch of morons.

Oona King, actually. Self-serving scum.

Diane Abbot too. racist hypocrite.

TBF, none of them are 'socialists' anyway. Not even champagne ones. They're mostly simply Tories masquerading as Labour politicians.

A decent bit of proper Socialism will be the only thing that can rescue Britain once the current scum have done their worst.

any person who puts them self on a pedastal to serve the public/country/whatever usually has a ulterior motive.

mp's and ultimatley pm's are the prime example.

ed balls is a git.

the-wrong-milliband is a waste of space, i don't dislike him per se, but he'll be the reason why labour lose the next election.

alan johnson - for sacking Prof Nutt after he said 'how about we base some decisions on facts?'

but top of the list, the man i couldn't get bored of punching, is John Reid.

after he said on RADIO-4:

"let me put this simply so the listeners will understand"

what a humongous ****.

sorry, i said a naughty word.

What a strange question Flashy? Wouldn't you want to celebrate the pseudo Tories rather than ridicule them?

This is a personal one for me. I used to have to work with some members of the Government from time to time a few years ago. By far the most depressing jobs were the Prescott jobs. ๐Ÿ™

Captain Flash in massive troll post shocker LOL

All the above were leaders of my country and i would not have followed any of them to a bar if they were buying the drinks. Roper working in close proximity to Prescott must have been like walking past a punchbag and just wanting to let it have one but resisting the urge, you must be a tolerant bloke, my hat is removed for you in admiration.

In a past life i did Close Protection on a Mandy visit to another country, what a discharge from an overgrown pusball on the Earths backside, really nasty and rude and ungrateful arrogant twunt.

Right i will get off the fence now !!!

I would reserve judgement on the lot in power for now (declares interest having voted Tory) as IMO they have 16 years of rebuilding to do after the last lost spunked it up against a wall.

In direct contract to anokdale, I can only say that when I met Mandelson he was extremely nice. Massive ego, of course, but then again, obviously extremely bright. That said, he came across as a great political mover, but not with any great political conviction; he could easily be a Tory.

nickf - Would not disagree with you on that one, i work in Libya now and they reckon Mandy was the main driver for getting UK PLC up and running here, (he is very close to Saif Al Ghaddafi one of the leaders Sons) seems to excel at that, i maybe had dealing with him on a bad day.

I would have thought that Baron Mandelson of Foy and Hartlepool was CaptainFlashhearts favourite self-serving champagne socialist.

After all he famously said in 1998 :

"we are intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich"

Even most Tories wouldn't have the nerve to say that.

And yes, he does seem to have all the right connections to look after his own sorry arse.

What do you reckon Flash ...... Baron Mandelson - good guy ?

"we are intensely relaxed about people getting filthy rich"

Ahem, ernie, you forgot the second and qualifying part of that sentence:

"so long as they pay their taxes"

Well I wouldn't have expected him to say "and we're not bothered if they don't pay their taxes" ourmaninthenorth - even the Tories won't deny that the "filthy rich" should pay their taxes.

So how many tax loopholes for the rich did Mandelson close ?

Much as I have no time for Mandelson, I don't recall him ever claiming to be a socialist and at one with the working man.

Prescott on the other hand is disgusting is every sense of the word.

Well I don't know what the grandson of Herbert Morrison was thinking when he joined the Communist Party then.

I think without doubt, the true crown needs to go not to one labour MP, but to an entire family, that of the former second Viscount Stansgate.

John Williams Benn -> William Wedgwood Benn -> Tony Benn -> Hilary Benn -> Emily Benn (parliamentary candidate)

only the finest Champagne here of course, educated in the finest schools, multi millionaires throughout - how can one justify advocating a fair and meritocratic system where new people are encouraged to get involved in the parliamentary prodecures, yet one single family has spent a hundred and fifty years on the front benches, - just how can such a family affair be considered alongside the supposed ethos of equality and meritocracy inherent in the Labour party?

Most impressive of course, is the fact that despite their radical advocacy of left wing socialist policies through the generations, the Family have amassed personal fortunes of millions - This would be the same Tony Benn who placed the family wealth into an offshore trust, away from pip squeaking Dennis Healey as he didn't think his children should suffer due to his socialist principles? Tony renounced his title, but not the wealth which came with it!

My old father always said that if he had as much money as Tony Benn without ever having to work and had then married an American millionairess to make things even better, that he would have been a socialist and the idol of gullible lefties all round - Now we have his kids in politics, again straight in with out having to work or any experience of the real world, living in a London dwelling bought by their father, a type and expense of which 99% of the population could never aspire to. Yet some fools think these people are spokesmen and defenders of the working class!

Tony Benn is a mixture of the same contradictions that many of his peer group suffer. He believes passionately in democratic structures but supports dodgy governments abroad so long as they fit his narrow ideological thinking. Why for example did he refer to Chechens as terrorists - if those guys were fighting Bush rather than Putin, Benn would have championed their status as anti-imperialist freedom fighters. If its anti-american its fine by him, but get a comment about Chinese oppression of Tibet, Russian human rights abuses in Chechnya - not a word!

The Benn's are the closest thing in Britain to the political dynasties notorious in the USA, Champagne Socialism, served up with Beluga Caviar!
