[Closed] Which musician, who was part of a great band, has produced the BEST solo stuff?

Robert Plant springs to mind, IMO his output since LZ has been consistently pretty good. I wouldn't say better, but he's pretty unusual for me in that he is still doing stuff worth listening to on it's own merits.

Also Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree, good stuff (some as good as) but not better.

Although, to be fair, The Police are one of my favourite all-time bands, and Sting's solo work is a musical matter where Pimpmistress Jazz's and my opnion differ.
