Love the way his ears flap when the video goes into 'dogcam' mode.

On that note, what cam for my dog?!

Use these LED's on my dogs which just clip on to the collar. No point having anything brighter as it bounces around all over the place when they are on full pelt.

Red LED Works well in fog as well if up on the moors.

Monde - any details on name? or where to buy them?
Our dog tend to destroy anything that hangs from the collar as she tears through the undergrowth, so I currently rely on her looking at me and getting the monster eyes reflection to find her!

My brother has one of these on his Lurcher.. Runs like the wind and seems fine. Not cheap but waterproof too.

You realise a dog doesn't need a light to see where it's going, don't you?

All you need to keep dog visible are these http://amzn.eu/cqiVmPL
Meant for cyclists, so are waterproof. Can be found cheap on ebay (can't link at work though)

[edit]Should've said - fit perfectly round dog's neck and are adjustable and elasticated. Should fit, unless you have a tiny terrier.

I was going to say - the dog doesn't need it to see. If you want it to be seen by others, then some kind of vest would seem to be much better surely?

part of my commute follows ncn2 along a tarmac path alongside a large playing field. lots of dog walkers. the most visible collars are the glowstick type ones. Give all round light and i can see exactly where the dog is.

I don't want to ride into a dog, & i'm pretty sure the dog doesn't want it. Seems unfair to the dog not to light it up at least a bit.

I have 2 for my dog

One a bit like this, black collar and red LEDs. USB rechargeable, water resistant but not waterproof. Usually used on flash. Battery doesn't last particularly long, needs a charge every few walks (which last about 30 minutes or so, its 3 miles on the bike)

[img] [/img]

The other I have is just a red tube type light. Properly waterproof, AAA battery powered though so not massively bright, not bad though, like this

[img] [/img]

USB one gets used the most, but the tube type one gets taken on big walks where he might go for a swim

Used to use an old Petzl Zipka 2 on flash before this with the red cover over the LEDs

I would like to find one that runs off am 18650 though, so it could have a bit more power, not loads more, just consistent and slightly brighter, but also good battery life.

Doesn't exist though unfortunately. Most of the rechargeable collars have fairly piddling battery life

Lumitubes are excellent. The red one (not sure why) is particularly good.

I thought you meant your dog was afraid of the dark and couldn't get to sleep without the landing light on.

Lumitubes are excellent

My dog destroyed them in 2 or 3 walks. I can assure you the cycling bands are better.

I got a couple of the Alpkit 'Blip' lights for when we dog-sat. They survived a few trips in the lake and were tricky to attach to the harness so probably won't drop off easily.

pocpoc, link to the light I posted below. They are excellent but I only use them to see the dogs on the moor if out in low light when they are ranging (pointers) My Dogs dont normally waer colalrs but these fit onto a breakaway collar so cant get snagged.

Thats a bit like when I used to attach a silicon bike light to my dog's (also pointer) collar - with one point of light you can only see it occasionally. With the bike bands, the red LEDs flash all the way round and it's hi-viz, so reflects in torch-light. I honestly don't understand why you'd pay more. (Especially not $50!)
Each to their own I guess.

I would like to find one that runs off am 18650 though, so it could have a bit more power, not loads more, just consistent and slightly brighter, but also good battery life.

Trouble there is that 18650 cells are bloody big, the case to hold one is going to be really bulky on a dog collar/harness.
The most practical size, if such a thing exists, would be a 14500/AA, the 14500 being 3.7v.

Loads here: http://www.dx.com/s/Led%2bdog%2blights?PageIndex=2#sortBar
Mostly CR-type batteries, as far as I can tell, I can't find anything that uses 14500 rechargeables.

i bought some off ebay recently for my pups, of the three i bought this one is by far the best (price has gone up though, i paid 1.99) in terms of quality and brightness. and it really is bright.

i walk my dogs, black labs, in the woods at night using it no probs.

LMAO, so very nicely put. Out of interest how did your dog manage to destroy it?

AA/CR123 size would be fine too. 18650 would be plenty of power combined with a proper battery life. Size isn't a big deal, have a big dog (34kg), plus a puppy that will be similar size when adult. As long as it's waterproof

Lumitube doesn't flash though, the other one I posted above does.
