Some months ago my GP recommended that I bought myself a blood pressure monitor to allow me to check my blood pressure without visiting the surgery during the CV-19 pandemic.

He recommended that I bought the same brand he used, but of course I didn't get around to it and now I can't remember the brand.

Following yet another stay in hospital I think that I need to sort one out.

I've had a browse online in the hope that it might jog my memory, but it hasn't.

I don't know whether the whole NHS uses a specific brand of monitor (I suspect not) but do we have an NHS worker here that can recommend a decent quality blood pressure monitor (ideally not too expensive)?

I do recall that he was insistent that it had a proper upper arm cuff.

My surgery lent me a basic OMRON one. I bought a higher spec OMRON with WiFi connectivity so the stats were available on my phone in an App. As you say, they recommended the brand and a proper cuff.

I’m sure one of the resident NHS people will be along soon, but last time I had it checked at my surgery they use the same Omron one I use at home.

Another Omron here.

Mrs_oab initially bought a cheaper one online that came with app to keep records. However the app wanted all my contacts, access to pictures, online activity etc etc. Data...hmmm

Omron too. Same as the GPs. Basic though with no Wi-Fi.

Thanks all. I can get an Omron through our local Argos, so I'll do that.

Thank you again.

Just another to say Omron, I've had mine for 10 years and it still gives exactly the same reading as the one at the doctors. Take it with me to compare.
