I just spotted that a couple of peeps were plucked off Bidean-nam-Brian earlier ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-42765306) and it got me thinking - climbing/mountaineering I can understand but where do you ski tour from there??

I just can’t think where they would go on skis from there?

Launched myself down a few gullies on ski in my time, but never leapt off the end of a flying ridge..

2013 church door buttress claimed 4 lives if i can remember, sounds a very scary place to be at this time of year and there is lots of snow about probably high avalanche risk

Not sure I understand the question. Given conditions are favourable there are any number of possibilities for touring from reasonably gentle to more committed mountaineering type affairs across serious terrain. On a good day it can be a great hill, but there is plenty of scope for things to escalate quickly if you find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever the background to the story linked is, it sounds like a very positive outcome for those involved.

Lost Valley or the Etive side of the mountain maybe?

Across to Stob Corie Nan Lochan, Broad Gulley, then ski out to the A82?

From the pictures I can't really work out why they were where they were. The weather on Friday may have been a factor. I can't imagine it was a pleasant night.
