Currently on the look out for a new position. After leaving the social care sector i've tried my hand at some sales (recruitment) and whilst the money is good, i'm not a salesman and struggle with it a bit (morally).

Is there anywhere that turns up some interesting stuff rather than a 150+ links to indeed i come across on google?

Realise it is maybe a bit gauge when i've not identified a sector but I really am open to anything (I have a return to the social sector covered), my only stipulation is £25+ and in lincolnshire/South Yorkshire.

Jobsite.co.uk
Reed.co.uk

I'm on gardening leave right now and I've been hitting those two most days, just leave the search blank and tighten the area as much as possible if you don't know what you want.

Saying that, a mate has just offered me a job out of the blue, it's only half the salary I'm currently on but I'm sick of the office politicking and fake camaraderie so I'm going to take it and just live cheaper.

As an employer I hate recruitment sites/companies. /end of rant.

When I was last out of work I started a trawl of local businesses, mostly just by walking round industrial estates. Made a list of companies and did some research on the ones that looked interesting. My plan was then to just rock up on the doorstep with a tailored CV, and say "Hi, I'd like to work for you. What can I do?".

Actually what happened, is that before getting to that step, I found a job via networking. So make sure you tell everyone you see, that you are looking, and would consider anything.

Just thought I'd offer a slightly different view than the normal web search.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I have actually been doing that for the past few weeks, i've had a few 'meetings' with folk but nothing has come of it yet.

Currently being a recruiter, i can't stand the big sites - 9/10 there will be no job attached to the ad, just a slimy recruitment consultant wanting you to sign on to his books.

Though maybe not because lots of professions have specialised job sites- something I was dismally unaware of til pretty recently.

I got my last job through LinkedIn. Sign up for the free Job Seeker trial and make sure your profile is up to date and as professional as possible.
