Following on from the vinyl records thread the other day; Does anyone know of a decent vinyl shop i can sell my records, hopefully as a job lot?

I've got about 50 12" singles and EPs, mainly early 90's Detroit and UK techno, with a smattering of D&B, and Breakbeat stuff. Anyone know of a specialist shop? There's a few classics in there!

Ta,

John.

There's a shop on Farnham High Street that I asked in recently. They only really want decent quality though so that rules mine out!

You're never gonna get much from a shop. If you can be arsed with it, list them all on Discogs.com. Really easy and painless and you can see what your record has sold for previously.

And then send me a link so I can have a look 🙂 I collect records.

hmm, i'm more inclined to flog them as a job lot- i cant see myself having a lot of time to list them all! they are all in 'reasonable'condition, but they have all been played, as records should!

Sadly, Beanos in Croydon closed down a few years back but I think the other shop up the road is still there. Memory Lane Records (I think).

Hard to find records in Birmingham www.htfr.com have buying prices on their site but as has been said you'll get more from discogs. Dance etc is a limited market and most dealers won't touch them.

The shop in West Street in Farnham did me a good deal. Gave me about £50 for the ones that were any good and I gave the restock the records to charity. He seemed pretty decent to me, and really knew his stuff. 101 Records, I think it is.

Discogs is easy but will take forever. People (like me) want the good/rare stuff in top condition. The top 5% will sell in a few weeks/months. The rest you'll still be looking at in 12 months. Most stores deal mainly with classic rock etc as there's a bigger market and higher priced items to sell. Your average 2nd hand store lacks the knowledge for the styles you mention ime.
