And crews too. Wasn't it one of the Lancias going off with the death of at least one crew that really shut the book on Group B?
Isn't that the Celica with the trick valves to bypass the restrictor?

No, that was the model-year after, the ST205. The ST185 (above) won plenty without cheating ๐ The trick was pretty cool though, ti was actually a restrictor mover which pushed the restrictor out of the way allowing more air to bypass it but only when the engine was bolted up together, so it was very hard to spot normally.
Dad had three uR Quattros, the last one a full Treser conversion (very 80s but very good). He nearky got a Quattro Sport (the short one for rallying) but mum put her foot down - dammit! Great cars!
mmmmmmmm group b .. . . .got to love the 6r4 - vicars car turned into a fire breathing hell hound . .. . my mates dad had one when i was a kid and used to rag it around resolven mt - you could hear it in the next valley !
I got to see Group C sports cars at Silverstone last year. Amazing sound and only approx 2s a lap slower than that years F1 race.
renault alpine. all other cars are gay.
They took the Lancia S4 to Estoril back in the day. It would have placed 6th on the F1 grid if it were eligible...
Sorry.. craziest racing car ever..
Porsche 917.
Still holds records today. It was so powerful it scared the sh*t out of most of the top drivers of the day. Many refused to drive it.
EDIT: I think it still holds the record for being the fastest and most powerful series racing car built.
Sorry, but WTF is a Toyota doing on this thread?
I'd love one of those Deltas, but have you seen the new ones? Now that's really "gopping"!
There's one here, but I'm not spoiling the thread with it:

GTFOOH! A very successful rally car, driven by many of the top drivers of the time. After initial problems in 92 it wiped the floor with the competition.
can't believe no-ones posted the impreza from the days of colin mcrae!

Holy Crap!! What a total disappointment!! Gopping is an understatement!
Like a 6R4 on crystal meth
Is that Pikes Peak?

i was thinking the same.
it's hardly a head turner is it.
anything after the group b cars is just a showroom car with a fat exhaust.
Celicas are now chaviots of the lowest order. No matter what the won, I hate them
Disgraceful Surf-Mat, absolutely disgraceful. As the owner of one and staff at an owners club I'd have to disagree with that entirely, though there are some amongst us that don't help matters! Not too keen on your jelly-mould one if I'm honest!
As for showroom car - of course its a homologation model, doesn't make it less of a rally car, just one of its time and with some restrictions!
it's hardly a head turner is it.
Actually yes, it usually is, and in a pleasant way too. I've lost count of the number of people who've approached me to talk about it when I've gone shopping in it etc, across the age ranges from kids to retired folk. It obviously appeals more to some of the less chronologically experienced but the majority of the owners I know are mid 30s and perfectly normal people! Still, it makes me happy to own, I don't own it for other people to like!
there is always somebody posting an inbred in a "show me your bling thread"

Aye, and there's always people who assume anchient history is the best thing since sliced bread. Good job tastes differ!
I think my favourite on this thread actually is PPs ford. Likewise I just dont "get" the wire and chrome, poor performance, basic design logs on wheels. No appeal at all. I suspect it's almost entirely down to what era you're from, my other fave is the T16, of similar era to the celica ๐

What's wrong with not liking a car?
TBH I did used to like them just liked many other cars but they seem to have gone the way of the chav now - they always try and race everyone with their gutless engines - even the 190 isn't quick. I have more time for the older shapes like the GT4 but don't see many around.
Toyota NEEDS to make a decent performance car again - I know one is on it's way (FT86) but it's hardly pant searingly quick. They last MR2 was great but underpowered, the Celica was just average and the Supra is now just too old hat.
Yes Lexus make some quick cars but they don't count.
