Nice screengrab mrchrispy. I remember the scene, but I never noticed the Firefly landing, and I'm pretty good at spotting things like that. I love it when programme producers drop in little references to other series.

Does that make me the Übergeek then?

Culture ships for sure. Not sure orbitals count as they are constructs that are stationary, and I can't rememeber if they have a Mind in them.

Clear Air Turbulance (CAT) for shear life-likeness and shonky all round charm (ok, I know its fictional!) but Consider Phelbas was pretty life-like and unlike a holywood movie and I hope they never make a film of it!

Have a look here for Culture Ship names

don't thank me, it was my google underpants.
apparently the company doing the cgi for BSG also did firefly.

if i had to choose it'd be either starbug or a culture ship.

They definitely have Minds. The one in 'Look to windward' used to be a Ship.

It's my favourite Culture novel. Less geeky spaceships but a great story.

I think Grey Area and Frank Exchange of Views are probably two of my favourite Culture Minds/Ships, out of many. Love those books, read the whole lot one after another recently, 'cos Waterstones were doing 3 for 2 on them, and I'd only ever had library copies out.

Dammit, someone beat me to it... I'd have the Sulaco, complete with dropships for those trips to the shops.

Never really took a fancy to the Firefly... It always seemed like a bit of a dump in both the series and the film, and it's not fast or cool. The Millenium Falcon could easily have it.

Nah, I'm sticking with the pride of the USCMC.

Mastiles - you'd think those clever SHADO people who managed to get a moonbase up and running, plus nice little spaceships would come up with a way of have more than one missile on their spaceship wouldn't you.....?

Believe it or not, Thunderbird 4 did actually exist, it's the only bit of Thunderbirds that wasn't fiction, I kid you not! look here, this is the actual real thunderbird 4 setting off on a rescue:

Chatting with a mate tonight on the way back from watching Wolverine: Origins, and he mentioned another ship I thought was really cool at the time, and that was the B5 Star Fury fighters. Terrific looking craft. Oh, and the latest Battlestar Galactica Cylon BaseStar capital ships are nifty. Still not as cool as the Shadow or Minbari ships.
