Looking for comedy reccos

I think ive seen all the classics, but there must be some lesser known gems?

Preferably films of artistic merit, but Im quite happy watching trashy, lowest common denominator, Will Ferrel or Seth Rogan type flicks too.

I don’t care as long as they make me laugh. Usually a good sign is if Kermode hates it!

ive reached an age where I don’t want to inflict sadness and despair on myself, so struggle to sit through commendable works about serious subjects these days.

I watched The Night Before on Prime last night. PMSL!

I like trashy American comedies like Deuce Bigalow and the criminally underrated Deuce Bigalow 2.

Tucker and dale Vs evil. If you've never heard of it or seen it, don't do any research on it - it's one of the funniest films I've seen in the last few years, but it hits so much better if you go in blind.

I’m halfway through the Death of Stalin on Netflix.

An absolute gem, but I'm sure it's the kind of rib-tickler the OP requires.

In Bruges

This too.

Neither of the above are wall to wall laughter - to their benefit IMO.

There's the Big Lebowski too.

Yup.

And if you like Tucker & Dale, try The Final Girls.
Excellent film.

Trollhunter is well worth a watch.
I think it's hilarious. 🙂

Fear Of A Black Hat.
Genius.
Think I'm the only person who's ever seen it though.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Mall Rats
Happy Gilmore
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
Old School
Anchorman

Mall Rats is probably the only 'less well known' on my list of personal faves.

Was going to suggest something else*, but can't beat tucker & dale vs evil as above - it's really good. I did just stumble accross it blindly - would recommend.

* role models

Blades of Glory

Ferrel's best.

Has anyone said Kingpin yet? If not, Kingpin.

On a Seth Rogen tip I thought This Is The End was really underrated, and not a film but Future Man is brilliant.

Mall Rats is probably the only ‘less well known’ on my list of personal faves.

On that note, Clerks.

I have a theory that the bigger the budget Kevin Smith has, the worse the film is he produces.

Good call!

Top Secret too, I'd forgotten that one. 🙂

The Producers and Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid if you've somehow managed to miss them. Neither exactly obscure though.

I'd second Blazing Saddles and Top Secret, if you've never seen either nows the time to watch them.
