Dull dull dull.... home insurance question.

My renewal is due, and has jumped about 20% for no apparent reason (no claims/area just as crappy as before etc.) with M&S

Have been with them a while, as previously recommended on here, especially with bikes to insure as well.

Anyone got any thoughts on alternatives, to either include specified bikes? Or do I look at insuring the bikes separately?

Ta

Just done mine with Barclays. Seemed pretty good. You get cover for the most expensive bike up to £5000 and all the rest are covered.

Just sorted mine with Halifax via MoneySupermarket. Have to specify any worth over £500, covered up to a total of £10k. That's just enough to cover all of ours.

Nationwide do bikes with options for expensive ones & away from home cover etc. It's who I use and they seem good but haven't claimed anything yet so can't comment about that side of it! If you have anything else with them, bank account or mortgage etc, then they give a 25% discount.

Aviva - premium was based on value of most expensive bike.

My M&S renewal was crazy this year. I got a fresh quote on a new policy with them and it was about 100quid cheaper.

Barclays here. Was £130 cheaper than Pedalcover. Pedalcover had some excess insurance added - but even without that it seems like-for-like was a lot more with Pedalcover

Thanks

ffej... my M&S quote was silly (4 figures!). Just using Moneysupermarket, their M&S quote was over 40% less. Robbing wotsits.

Looks like either Admiral, Aviva or John Lewis are the best with bikes identified over £500 up to £2500 each (which is fine with me!)

Aviva Plus - bikes covered in outbuildings (as long as locked) and New for Old. But double check as things may have changed since my claim last october.

Another vote for Pedalcover. Don't even need to specify the high value bikes.

Full disclosure - they supported a website I run for a few years - but I used them before and I continue to use them afterwards!

Aviva Plus cover outbuildings to the full value of contents insurance (£75k in our case).
