The previous owners of our house sanded and stained/varnished the origional floorboards to our lounge.
Since decorating last year, we've realised they are really dirty.
I'm guessing that mopping them is not a good idea. So is it a case of getting on my hands and knees with woodpolish and using good old fashioned elbow grease to bring them up a treat? Or is there an easier option?
Thanks.
Getting them wet is no problem. Give 'em a good scrub. Polish on varnished boards is a waste of time
Thanks T.J. Hubby is on the job as we speak. Firstly a good vacuum clean and then the scrubbing.
A lovely way to spend St. Valentines day.
There's some SC Johnson (a family company) wood floor cleaner that works quite well with a mop and a bit of effort.
I tend to just get the MR sheen out and bosh that on the mop. And then remember not to wear socks for a week else I'll be on my arse.

On the job, on the living room floor, with a scrubber you mean?
Sugar soap (you cn get it from B&Q) is very effective at cleaning wooden floors.
I tend to ignore ours until Mrs North decides she absolutely has to clean them... ๐
So, basically, a cleaning product, water, brush/cloth and elbow grease. Have fun!
Hey-boxelder, we're posh. You're hurting my imagination.:0)
