Too many illegitimate cheeses, plus no biscuits and there appear to be vegetables involved. And olives. And grapes

4/10.

A few observations:

- Not enough cheese by far, even for just 2.
- Port is rank
- Why the chuff have you got yellow peppers on the plate?

Otherwise, bloody fabulous sight - enjoy!

Nice! but why's it on the floor?

I larfed!

Edit:..if you've got a parquet worktop, you better be using Carrs crackers...

1) We have a parquet worktop.

2) Pesto.

Good stuff. I like grapes with the cheeseboard too, cuts through the likes of Brie.

Pesto. Your pesto has congeiled ? My pesto requires a spoon. It cannot be sliced.

I thought you'd sorted the hoose moose problem? That's a very big, middle class mousetrap 😀

That looks dire, a supermarket sweep of cheese.

Melt it all on toast. Then quaff the port from a pint glass.

RichPenny +1

Your cheese board is mostly missing its cheese 😉

Enjoy the port

For a fat single mother from a Wigan high rise you know an awful lot about cheese. How was your KFC?

Got to be a troll. No self respecting cheese lover would proffer that to their dog let alone guests.

Needs bigger portions and yes sadly looks like supermarket specials. Still as also said it's cheese.

I love this place, OP posts what they consider to be a s****y post worth cheese and port picture, STW shoot it down for being the wrong type of cheese.

🙂

Looks like the perfect accompaniment to a strictly final to me. Make of that what you will.

To be fair, the shoot-it-downs were predictable from the predictable.

All looks very nice but I do like a good quality cheese over supermarket but still if that's all there is then it will be eaten. Hoping my local cheese shop is open Xmas Eve as if it's not then supermarket cheese it is.

mmmm at the mouldy cheese and smoked cheese. wouldn't have put gouda and the cheese that's made backwards on a cheeseboard. having lived in holland, that's like putting bog standard cheddar on a cheeseboard.

would have at least tomme de savioe and morbier on mine.
and prolly some decent salami / wurst too.

/me finishing off a cheap camembert tonight

Solidarity brother! I too have just demolished an absolutely chuffing huge cheeseboard. I note you have some non cheese items there. Controversial! Normally I'd argue against it, but my dads just made a statement that has made me weep with joy....

"Oh..... I almost forgot.... I got some lovely pork pies from the butchers too"

I love my dad! 😀

I see none of the residual "small hitters" of stw would dare suggest a cheese themselves for fear of ridicule. Like teenage girls trying to exclude "the new girl" to look big and clever, and failing as most of us are over 15.

To the op - if you enjoy the cheese, had fun choosing them, and have a decent seleciton of wine/port/ales to accompany, with a handful of tasty pickles and chutneys, good luck and merry christmas to to you. come back and tell us what you did and didn't like. Even a cheap cheese is better than no cheese. I'd rather have a slice of leerdammer or a wedge of St Agur than nothing for my post dessert course.

Like a Halfords Apollo is better than no Orange5/Turner5spot/CoticSoul/Yetisomenumber to any proper cyclist.

Anything from www.devenickdairy.co.uk - local farm shop on the other side of the dee .

Fond of the strathdon blue myself how ever tonight after seeing this thread i pulled out some double gloucester with onions/ chives and a wensleydale from the fridge to celebrate the fact that after a herculean effort today i have 1 less room with cigarette smoke infested wallpaper in. .....only 1 room left.

would dare suggest a cheese themselves for fear of ridicule.

Colton Bassett Stilton
Appleby's Cheshire
Kirkhams Lancashire
Montgomery's cheddar
Ardrahan
Berkswell
2kg in total from neals yard dairy
Morbier (the one with ash in the middle)
tom de chevre de pays
From the market
Bottle of Kopke 2001 Colheita (vintage is too heavy and too expensive plus Colheita being an aged tawny will be fresh for a week or 2 as it has already undergone partial oxidisation unlike vintage port)
No chopped unripe vegetables or olives just some quince jelly and biscuits.

Flame away.

Oh yes sorry biscuits and a good chutney is a nice addition, as is olives, grapes and peppers.

Damn might have to raid the fridge as think the Mrs bough some M&S cheese the other day. I also took a risk with Lidl's 10 Year Old Tawny Port it's very nice especially for £10.

We have some posh cheddar in the fridge but I'm buying some supermarket muck as I prefer the taste + I won't spend Xmas in a spasm of angst at having bought it off the wrong artisan
