Purely for research purposes, I've been forced into a selection of real ales this evening with a view to making a shopping list for this years yuletide provisions. so far i've had a:

very much a west country feel but i'm a firm believer that beer doesn't travel that well.
over to you, what you on ?
A Buxton brewery moor top x2 so far
Woo Hoo for the Jail Ale and Woo Coo Hoo for Butcombe. ๐
Just back from the pub where I shlurped a few Bath Ales Gem - the king of Bristol beers.
(if you can get hold of any, try some Bristol Beer Factory stuff - I'm sure it won a major middle class award on R4 a week ago).
Black Sheep ale. It's alright.. I'm going off ale though.
Some lovely ales in that selection (I'm Cornish but live in Bristol). Tribute and Gem are favourites. I'm really not a fan of bottled Gem though - much better out of a barrel. I'm yet to try their 9 pint takeaway barrels, though I am sorely tempted for Christmas.
Has anyone tried the Bath Ales Festivity yet?
Nice work trailmonkey ๐
This evening I'll mostly be drinking a fresh take-home from the local microbrewery (travelled a mere 3 miles): Andwell Porter (www.andwells.com).
It's disappearing rather pleasingly and a bit too quickly.

But not too much as I'm riding DH in the morning.

bit limited to what i can get in the supermarkets but i'll look out for it.
tesco definitely has a local feel to their beers
mmmmmmmm that golden hare sure is the pick of the bunch so far.
bit worried that it's only 9.40 and i've only got 2 left. i think i've got 2 cans of guiness original in the back of the cupboard. after that i'm on the toilet duck.
That'll be no riding then tomorrow...
@deadlydarcy - marvellous
Our local in Bristol has recently been taken over by three Ale lovers. At any one time they have six different barrels on, with another six resting. They only order one barrel at a time, so the variety is brilliant. You can test them all too.

how dare you
got a 2000 worder to get through anyway ๐ฅ

Started on Kopperberg,
Then moved onto Sailor Jerry and Coke
Now finishing the night on Baileys.....
Just round the corner from me wallop. I've been there a few times. Seems to keep changing hands. Nice pub though. I was in the Banco this evening for a bite to eat (with a few bottles of Gem followed by a pint of Togaman...apparently brewed by BBF for the Lounges).
tm, gimme your beer money you big girly swotty pimple. ๐
I live half way between Banco & S&D - we must be very close!

oi, i'm a student how could i possibly be drunk enough to crown a statue with a road cone if i give you all my ale money ?
i'm almost on the toilet duck here - that butcombe was nice but i couldn't bring myself to order a pint of it in the pub. it sounds all kinds of wrong with a brummie accent ๐ณ
Well, I'm over towards Bris...just off Sandy Park. But no decent pubes over there. ๐
Tm, ๐ it is possibly the best named beer. I used to live near Sheepscombe (near Stroud) some years back.
Weird, I have a friend who also lives off Sandy Park, and was also in the Banco tonight.
I used to live near Sheepscombe
in fairness when you're this deep into devon, ordering one of those wouldn't be too out of the ordinary.
Steady...
mmmmmmmmmmm, i'm starting to become beguiled by the butcombe. best so far. not sure that it's a session beer mind.
*edit* just seen the tags ๐
DD - hoping that "no decent pubes" was a typo ๐ฏ
Drinking a warm and spicy glass of mulled wine - festive and medicinal (and a lot more enjoyable than lemsips!)
time to grab that apricot liquer again soon monkey
apricot liqueur? ๐ฏ
Err...nice. ๐
Whatever do you Devon girls get up to?!?
Trailmonkey,I know what you mean about ale not travelling well but Iv'e had a couple of bottles of Doombar tonight & it's travelled alright 300 miles up to here, west lancs (morrisons stock it).We also get the stuff on draught in Liverpool.
