[Closed] What would you tell your 19 year old self?

I’d tell the 19 year old me to go out into the world and do what you think is right at the time, make the same mistakes and end up where I am now a whole lot wiser and mentally stronger than I would be if someone had given me a road map rather than letting me live those highs and lows.

Don't bother with uni. Waste of time and money. Pointless social expectation. Do the job I'm doing now, but get in younger and benefit from the final salary pension.

I would say don't bother with Uni but I met Mrs Matt there.

So instead, go to Uni but don't spend three years spending your student loan on vast quantities of alcohol and weed. Also, don't go back to the Rez on St Patricks Day because you'll fall down the stairs and knacker your ankle.

Oh, and don't buy that mini no matter how much you want it because it's basically rust held together with paint and will only last a few months.

Don't keep putting things off, do it now.

Don't doubt yourself, actually you can do it. Have a bit more belief.

Dump the cigarettes, they are not cool, big or clever.

Talk to somebody about how you feel. You can’t keep being angry, high or drunk. It’s not healthy or normal.

Spend more time with your brother.

Aim for a career, not just a job.

Ride the bike more

Go to University. Avoid getting a 'proper' job for as long as possible.

Don't be so bloody uptight, twenty four years later you'll figure out that quite a few girls were hitting on you. Some of them were definitely hinting at sexehteims.

Oh and don't allow your car to be serviced by a certain East Anglian VW specialist. They'll ruin it.

Start learning to manual. 30 years of practicing would hopefully have paid off

Nothing, because all the bad things happened in my life but would affect my current life if I changed the earlier part.

I wouldn't change any of the life I have now, so anything that may affect that is a no!

Oh yes, just though of another one.

Go and live overseas for a while. It doesn't matter where you go or what you do. Gives you a much broader perspective on life, people and the planet.

When the bank offered you a mortgage take it and buy a flat rather than deciding to buy a XR2 fiesta. Probably my worse ever financial decision!! circa 1985 - what a muppet.

I'd probably say:

1. Buy a house. Even if you rent it out just buy one ASAP.
2. Don't stay in a relationship that's not worth it.

Stop taking drugs, it will cost you a fortune, your relationships and your sanity.

Move out of your mums house become independent sooner. Try and put some money in the bank for a house rather than up your nose.

Keep your friends close.

Work harder at uni, a 1st get's you discounts on MSc's when you're broke and need one in 10 years time.

Beyond that I graduated in 2008 just after the oil price crashed then rebounded, just as the financial crash happened and a few years before the oil tanked again, so work was never going to be plain sailing, and I was just a bit too late to get a deposit and house sorted whilst prices were still going up at double digit rates.

So whatever I did wouldn't help, except maybe go back a few more years and tell my 16yr old self to be a Dr instead of an engineer.

Basicly being a millennial sucks mostly for external reasons so:
Shoot Farage or buy $ in early 2016. That or emigrate whilst it's still £1:$2.

Mmm, lots of great advice above :O)

Mine;
You're not stupid but Uni isn't for you. It took 12/13 years of an office job to realise. Saying that I did meet the wife there so...................
