So I need to replace the fence panels in the garden but all the concrete posts have gone wonky. So instead of buying panels and it looking awful I was going to put a horizontal fence hiding the fence posts (and it look awful that way instead ๐Ÿ™‚ )

Something like this?

Fence

What wood should I be using please and any ideas on attaching batons to concrete posts?

Thanks

Too easy to climb, and look shit, fit a rail top, mid and bottom, and 1.8m vert slats.

Pressure treated sawn for the wood

Make sure you treat any cut edges with end grain preservative

Fix wooden battens to the concrete posts with coach bolts, then fasten the horizontal slats to them , but may still look gash if the posts are not in line !

Did something similar to that fence in the photo several years ago. I just used a hardwood decking plank and ripped it down to size then oiled it. Looked very nice but sadly don't have any photos (pre camera phones).

Whatever it is, buy it from a local sawmill. Mine costs under half what Wickes/Jewson etc quote and 1/3 of what B&Q charge.

I had to redo a short section of fence recently and all the independent places were either completely shut or doing trade sales only.

End up having no choice but b&q. I got feather edge boards and put them on top of the posts so it doesn't matter if they're not perfectly straight.

Wickes fencing stuff delivered recently was terrible quality, chipped, dicoloured, bits hanging off. Avoid.
