Ooo, I've got that 999 single stashed away somewhere. Got loads of old punk/new wave 7 and 12" singles, from back when Chippenham actually had a proper record shop run by someone with a clue.
*Sigh*, those were the days... 😥

Spicegirls and aqua came free with the stereo my mum bought me when I was younger! No shame!

But the first 2 I bought were Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory and Limp Bizkit - Chocolate Starfish and Hotdog Flavoured Water 😀

2 for £10 at HMV!

I haven't! Back then I used to have to sell stuff to buy new records, so all my 999 stuff went 🙁 Still got the Iggy album though. Dunno where Mud Rock went - I fancy a quick shoulder stomp! 😀

I was more into albums than singles. I do have lots of 12" EPs from the mid/late 80s tho.
First album I went out and bought with my own money was about 1980 and I was 13ish
[img] [/img]
first single (not available on an album) was much later 1982

1st single - Rat Trap - Boomtown Rats
1st album - not quite sure but I think it was Parallel Lines by Blondie

Having said that I'm pretty sure I also bought, earlier, the Yingtong Song by the Goons and was also given a copy of Merry Christmas by Slade.

You're all so cool.

Right, I'm not proud of this but I grew up in a small town and we weren't down the hip kids and that.

My first single was Combine Harvestor by the Wurzels.
My first Album was Magnetic Fields by Jean Michel Jarre

Yep, I have no idea either.

I'm sure I've got that pink vinyl Squeeze single as well. A sucker for ltd. edition coloured singles, me. It helped that the guy who owned the record shop had been a rep for WEA records, so had lots of contacts. I've got a Frankie Goes To Hollywood 12" white label, a version of War, IIRC, that was not listed in the catalogue, with Gary Moore on guitar, I believe, and I had white labels of Tom Waits' Small Change, and Neil Young's Decade, that he pulled for 18 months because he wasn't happy about something. I think I got them for about a quid.
Oh happy days.

Album - Flaming Star, Elvis Presley

I'm pretty sure I owned that as a 8yo kid and his 40 greatest hits, but courtesy of me parents, not my own first purchase.

DebZ, Honey Bane should be congratulated as an artist who was earmarked for pop stardom by the big music bizz, but just walked away from it all. She was expected to become the next Toyah Wilcox/Hazel O'Connor, but chose not to go down that path and ended her contract with EMI (or whoever) and recorded with Crass records, choosing to do what she wanted to do rather than what the big music execs wanted her to do. I wasn't aware of that at the time, 30 years ago.
