Car, 1971 Vauxhall Viva HC in white and red oxide. Given to me by my dad as an 18th birthday present two months before it failed its MOT....

Bike, Suzuki RG250 Mk 11 Gamma with a stage 3 Stan Stephens race tune. Mother of God did I learn to ride when I had that!

Best bike BTW, 1998 Kawasaki ZX6R (in green of course)......then the kids came along

How did you get a 250 as your first motorbike? Respect anyway because I can remember those things being extremely rapid, particularly when tuned 8)

I really quite fancy one of those now, or an aprilia

Funnily enough I only started biking AFTER the kids came along - does that make me a bad dad?

This bad boy, though a 1977 version in snot green. Surprisingly good handling for an old car.

[img] [/img]

Went everywhere in the UK. Floor eventually rusted through, as did almost everything else to be honest.

Cool, a Vauxhall chuv-it 😉

My ex-step-father had one of those and when he turned the windscreen wipers on it used to sound like it was saying "tarzan" to you. It drove him mad 😆

Pre 1983 you could have a 250 as your first bike.

1st bike Honda CB100 - rebuilt by me aqnd my Dad (mostly him), ticked off my mates at poly with their Fizzies and Puch Maxis 🙂

Followed by my 1st car, a 1500 Mk1 Cortina in dark blue. £70.

After too many years without a bike I now have a yellow Daytona, and I'm driving a Fabia VRS which is a hoot. Happy days then and now.

Some nice bikes on here. Let's change that:

My Virago 125. It would have been rubbish even if it worked, which it almost never did.

Hyundai Pony coupe. Kept three spare wheels in the back because they kept collapsing when hitting obstacles such as cats eyes, small twigs and wool.

I was so proud of it - "Electric Blue" with added rust effect. I thought it was a hot hatch!

Lol at Ho-hum's dad's car's windscreen wipers saying, "Tarzan". That would drive me nuts too 🙂

Mini Pick Up as a post grad student. Used mostly for biking adventures in conjunction with Leffeboy's Allegro for the bodies. Happy days. You could fit 6 bikes in the back.

This was my first bike - a Yamaha RD250E. Sadly this isn't it but mine was the same colour but had Allspeed expansion boxes on it and a nice set or rear-sets and dropped bars. Absolutely ace bike, quite quick and much better when it had some proper Avon Roadrunner tyres fitted in a proper big size 😀

First car I owned was a Ginetta G15

Gilo - you mean you had one? The E looked stunning - discs front and back and those wheels mmmmm. I looked round for ages wanting a 250 but my dad wanted me get a Honda as he had a 400 Dream (yuk). I found loads of Hondas but only the one Yam which my mates mate was selling so I paid £400 for it and I loved it. They fetch really good money now but I'd love to get one. I did want an LC but they were a lot more money if truth be told.

Honda Express chicken chaser I'd used on the fields up till then -I lived 3miles from anywhere, so 'any' transport was great. Asked DVLA for the log book, and put it on the road till, I got a fully faired FS1E speed machine! My parents tried to get me away from bikes by buying me Talbot Dodge van -Simca car with a Berlingo box type body. It was awful.

1992 Vauxhall Nova 1.2i. Had it 8 years, did over 70k miles and it never missed a beat. Even i could do mechanical work on it (simple car and easy to work on) and it did 45mpg no matter how you drove it, got over 50mpg on long drives. Great car.

Its not me, its Stuart Dangerous. the non brother of (Dangerous Bros Duo), Kevin Dangerous.

You may need to cover your eyes to fully appreciate Cynicals jacket. He certainly felt the need to wear dark glasses.

Well i bought it with 40k on the clock, the point i was making was a car that was 8 years old and did another 70k miles in the next 8 years without issues was pretty good IMO....

First car was a Ford Anglia, closely followed by a Ford Falcon (an antipodean model it were big and had bench seats and 3 speed column change, nae power steering etc, nae handbrake for that matter I just parked it in gear with a brick under the front wheel). I had to have a cushion behind me to reach the pedals with the seat all the way forward.

McMoonter - loving the pics of the 80s gear !!
