Got an airbnb there next weekend for my wife's bday. We love walking and food! Looking for a decent day walk in the hills and good food in the evening - she is coeliac so that needs to be factored in. Happy too cook so any farm shops/delis as an alternative to eating out?

Wild Boar Fell just south. Nine Standards Rigg just to the east. There's gentler stuff on the limestone around Smardale to the west. If it's good weather then maybe Cross Fell, High Cup Nick which aren't too far away.

Stenkrith Hole is a limestone river formation just outside town - nice walks and great spot. A childhood favourite spot of mine.
Smardale Gill nature reserve - amazing spot, good views, limestone pavement, nice walks.
Black Swan at Ravenstonedale is a great gastro-pub-hotel type place and nice village for a wander.
The drive from KS to Garsdale Head, then west to Sedburgh and return to KS has many waterfalls, walks, cafe, pub, bakers at SB, bookshops in SB etc. A place to just potter round lots of spots.
Alternatively there is a longer day out to go to Hawes via Garsdale and return via Birkdale - again lots to wander and potter, including nice bike shop and cafe at Hawes station, pottery in hawes etc.
Mainly, its a spot for walks and rides....
