A bit in response to the grumpy thread and also going along with the fact that a lot of us already have things that we *need*, what small things would make you happy

I'd love one of these

or not so small, one of these

They are things I could easily buy but I just haven't because I don't need one - but I'd *like* one

Someone gave us some mince pies. I don't like mince pies, but it made me really smile.

All I want for Christmas is to see my daughter happy. She's really excited that I'm going to her house for Christmas morning this year. Having both her parents in the same room for the first time in a long time should make her happy.

I'd really like some new socks too.

Being discharged from hospital, going in on the 22nd for a small op (have some wires removed from my chest) would be great to be out by christmas day

A book that I wouldn't normally buy - helps me to broaden my horizons a bit.
Something to make on Christmas day. Small model or similar.

Pretty much most small stuff my other half gets me as she puts a lot of thought into things and knows me well.

Oh, and not having to drive at all after midday on Christmas eve until Boxing day some time. This is a rarity.

Si

Lego and book as above would be excellent. I love Lego but seldom get it as a gift...

No arguing from the kids would be the best thing though. They are pretty good - but sometimes excitement gets the better of them and tensions run high.

as mentioned, it's a drill dust collector. Very simple but a great thing to have
Lego and books rock as well
I'm not sure coke and hookers fit into the cheap category but it may depend on where you live....

There's a hardcover set of every Peanuts cartoon ever printed, starting from 1950, 2 years to a book. Every year my little brother gives me the next edition, which at this rate, is going to last us til about 2040. (left to my own devices I'd buy the complete set tomorrow and fill a shelf with them)

I loved Peanuts as a kid, until I discovered Garfield. Loved Garfield until I discovered Calvin and Hobbes which is clearly the most bestest comic strip in the universe. Peanuts is just too melancholy. Poor 'ole Charlie Brown.

In no particular order:

Sleep
Time at home to make some progress building cabinets & new workbench in the garage*
A CD or LP of interesting new music
Bottle of decent Rum
Sleep

*Not happening - Christmas Eve at BIL's, Christmas Day at inlays, Boxing Day - 28th @ my parents (4+ hours drive each way), 29 at home (washing clothes and packing), 30-1 in London to eat/shop/ballet.

I work away from home and would love to spend more than 2 or 3 successive nights in my own bed....

Electricity.
Had a Christmas at the folks without it a few years back (6days), thankfully it was a warm spell so the pensioners in the village didn't freeze. The local authorities don't give a toss unless the MP lives nearby.

Really hope that works out for you Mister P! Not much better than small kids happy at Christmas.

New slippers.

I've been given a £25 M&S voucher and the lure of their slipper range is high 😳

I'm wearing the blue tartan-pattern Thinsulate model now.

They've been great but the backs are going a bit floppy after 11 months daily wear (WFH).

4.5 stars.

I've already got what I want.
Off work on the 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 31st Dec, 1st & 2nd Jan.
That's a first in 15 years of Prison service. Part time's great! 8)
