For uk spring summer and autumn camping and bivvy/bothy trips I want the best bag for the least money! What have you got or recommend.

For bivvying you might want to consider something synthetic rather than down on the basis that it will retain more warmth when wet/damp.

On that basis, I've found the Mountain Hardware Lamina range to have about the best synthetic filling. You can find a Lamina 45 here; http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/mountain-hardwear-lamina-45-mummy-shaped-sleeping-bag-p104450. Lighter and heavier versions are available depending upon how "warm" a sleeper you are and whether or not you plan to carry a dry change of clothes with you.

I have a Softie 6 which is super compact but not warm enough for cooler uk conditions unless you're wearing a few layers below.. Has done me for -5 temps on occasion, but I was freezing my nuts off. Would go for a 9 or 12 if I was buying again now.

Good bags and still work ok once damp. They dry really fast too and survive washing well.

Your asking for something that doesnt really exist, Spring to Autumn temperatures out doors range from at least -2 to +26, thats in the Dales.
For bivving you want light and small pack size so maybe a Snugpack softie tech 2 and a liner for colder weather.

I used one down bag for 70 nights last year, between -12 and 28. Works fine, you just need to make a few adjustments to how you sleep (jacket draped over bag when really cold etc).

Granted, it's not as good as having two (or more) bags, but it's definitely doable without much discomfort.
