Hello,

Can anyone tell me what to search for to find a replacement screw for second one down here:
[img] [/img]
6 x 70mm with a flat washer style head. Not wedded to it being an allen/hex head, just working well at holding some furniture together. But my searches in normal places like screwfix and wickes are turning up blank so I’m clearly searching for the wrong thing.

Longer version, Eucalyptus outdoor furniture from John Lewis, started cracking & splitting after 3 months. They agreed this shouldn’t happen and picked it up and sent a replacement. On assembling said replacement the alignment wasn’t great so hard to do up fittings on the legs. Screws are made of some sort of pigiron/cheese alloy and even with careful use of a Wera hex key stripped one head. Unfortunately John Lewis can’t get just the screws from the supplier and I don’t want to go through dismantling another one so it fits back through the house and having another delivered.

Cut a slot for a conventional screwdriver in your rounded one?

Go back to John Lewis, find a good looking partner and insist they give you a long screw. What could possibly go wrong?

Google: Flat Head Hex Furniture Screw

It comes up with loads of similar looking screws - you just need to find the right size.

Here's an example from ebay that is almost correct. If you look in there shop, they might have the correct size:

Is the screw visible when assembled? I'd just wack any 7mmx60mm screw in there if not visible.

Wher abouts are you? I have some similar to that in stainless with torx heads so no stripping.

Thanks, will do some searching using all the above suggestions once I escape from meetings.

@hammyuk - Surrey way
@martinhutch - I'm really not sure a slot would last long enough!

Cup washer is a good idea if I can't find something with the right head.

Judging by the diagram, some sort of joke screw with lots of independent, anti-social threads instead of one continuous spiral.

Many thanks, with the help of the suggestions found these: http://www.theinsertcompany.com/confirmat_screws.php

Looks like they should do the job.
