We've a Kenwood double oven and the main one doesn't heat up anymore. Light and fan comes on but no heat. Googling suggested either element or selector switch, so I fitted the switch as the oven and grill don't work but still nothing. What next? Element? Thermostat? New cooker? Ta.

You'll see it when you get the back off the oven. Its pretty obvious when an element has gone, usually a split in it.

Thanks. I've looked at the element and it looks ok. Just wondering why both the oven heating and grill have stopped working together. Are they linked?

Take the element out and do a resistance test. If its open loop or very high the element is gone.
