[#1551559]

Been clearing out desks at work today of colleagues who took redundancy or retired
Amazed at the amount of old crap i found and began to wonder what others have

My weirdest objects are a phial full of my wife's Gallstones from when she had her Gall Bladder removed

Also got a dried pigs ear, bought from a pet shop and awarded each week to the person who made the biggest pigs ear of it (sadly the PC culture put an end to that one)

Finally there is the pair of Kenda downhill inner tubes, they are some heavy duty muthas, weigh more than my XC wheels I reckon.
Weirdest thing is don't even know where they came from, certainly not bought by me

Plastic skull, bouncy ball, tube of UHU, A4 folder with a bit of work in it, six pistachio nuts, and some special specs that simulate the effects of being pissed for teaching schoolchildren how much fun getting pissed is.

Shorting bar? Have you not got a CRID down there too? And a PM armband?
Mine's got amongst other stuff a set of railway curves, a 1890 book on brickwork and some Jan van Gent sweeties.

I don't have a desk 🙁

However, one place I've worked in the past where I did have a desk, we would always be short of pens. A common enough problem. One day we couldn't find any pens at all so started rooting through all the desks in the area. We looked into the drawers of one guys desk and he had one of those deep drawers for fitting binder files in..... completely full of pens. There must have been a few thousand in there.

What do you do with someone like that?

...Promote them seems to be the way of the world just to avoid any 'issues' in case you are accused of picking on them 🙄

aP... nope, just a shorting bar. It's not mine and I am not entirely sure why it's under there. And like they'd let me loose with a PM armband!!

@ Samurai. Confront them, but not with a sword.

My desk, I have a dozen or so plastic caps from those fruit drinks with a pop-up lid. I left one on my desk, and now I've got obsessive about collecting them. It can't end well.
And a plastic Elvis - not mine and no idea where it came from or why it's around.

My drawers fell apart with all the rubbish I kept. now i keep the empty repaired drawers in a cupboard and can't collect any crap. genius.

But my control room has Emergency Kazoos and someone has left a full size Tardis behind. We store timber in the tardis. Bigger on the inside innit.

I've got this wooden cup in my drawer. On one side it says, "Jesus is the best son in the universe" and on the bottom it says "Grails - Made in Jerusalem" Dunno what it is, is it worth putting in the classifieds?

My wedding ring is in the top drawer of my desk at work. I took it off a couple of months ago when I didn't have anywhere to live, and I don't really want it in my new flat I guess. 🙁

Went through a phase of drying fruits out over several months. The banana was rank, loads of tiny flies when we opened the box. But the orange was intresting when we cut it in half on the billet saw.
Also have a lock knife for opening post, a colleague recently pointed out its illegality so might have to bin it.
Loads of old valves, 'O' rings, seals etc.
Some old Engineering text books that are merely a smoke screen.

A few poster tubes with someone else's name on, that I haven't looked in. Andrew Clark (7XAO) I have your posters. Also a few bits of plastic things, a CD for something I dunno what it is, and a load of old printouts of documents and emails that people've brought in. Can't you just forward me the damn thing you morons? Why print it out? Learn to read from screens and save trees.

Invites to various civic do's
Spair emergency knotted cord cufflinks
Several commendation lapel badges that I'm embarrassed to wear
USB router that I use as a lamp stand
Halogen spot lamp
Terror attack cordon support hi vis vest
two year old box of fruit teas...

my desk is a tip, when I have a clear out it's like time team- I can find out what I was doing/eating/reading over the last period in a series of chronological strips.

A guy I used to work with amassed a collection of dessicated dead animals & skulls on his windowsill, mainly found on sites or roadkill. Think there was a sparrowhawk, badger skull, few more small mammall skulls and some bats.

The windowcleaners didn't quite know what to do. 😆
