Careless Whisper - George Michaels. It was a minor hit back in the early eighties indie smooch dance scene

Tito la Rosa is one of Peru's most famous musicians. Absolutely beautiful spiritual music, in quite a few different styles and he has recorded albums with many different musicians. I do not think he is that well known outside of Peru, apart from people like myself who are into that kind of thing. I really feel he should have far more recognition than he has.

Saw these in a local bar recently and was most impressed.

From Bridgend, Wales and some cracking lyrics. Sort of folky rock so not my usual thing but the quality of the music shone through.

Alias, indeed, the stuff he did with Tarsier from Tarsier and Healamonster was particularly memorable

In the interests of eclecticism, how about Ryan Bingham? Gritty country music of the Red Dirt variety (as opposed to the Dolly Parton/ sequins type) - shades of stripped-back Springsteen and echoes of Bob Dylan.

Neutral milk hotel; amazing band! Although I've since found they are quite popular with indie nerds-DAMMIT.

Captain Beefheart; many know of him but don't necessarily know the intricate wonders of his work.

I stumbled across No Age and Surfer Blood on lastfm.com, more fun tuneage.

Living in Brighton can be a bit of an obscurity competition!
