Involved in making simulators for drilling holes

Love this job description. Got visions of some bloke making power drill noises as he moves his arms slowly towards a wall.

I spend most days standing around on street corners.
I don't earn very much.
Chugger?

No, would it help if I add I don't wear any knickers?

Bike messenger.

No, I'd be riding around streets then, not standing on street corners...

A one-time marine biologist, I now spend most of my time getting people to talk with each other so they make better (less bad? good?) decisions.

Most of the time, great fun. Not so fun when doing stoopid workloads due to inability of clients to see that a quinquennial cycle comes around, oooh, about... every - five - freakin' - years - surprise!!

Marketing Analyst, which at the moment means spending lots of time trying to get reports out of a newly installed CRM system. Money isn't too good but it is interesting at the moment.

I sell and support the computers that garages use to fix your over complicated technical nightmares of cars, trucks, bikes, tractors even jet skis.... Interesting and frustrating and why I love bikes, cos they're simple compared to cars...

Psych Nurse - Managing 3 Supported Living houses in the community, 1 floating support, 1 24hr support for schizophrenic males and 1 24hr support for forensic patients (think violent(murder etc) and sexual crimes with enduring mental health problems... ex broadmoor for example). love my job as its psych nursing in a setting where i actually get to help people learn to cope/live independently. one of my patients recently went off to uni to train as an Occupational Therapist 😀

nice to see so many nurses and social worker type people on here too, even if they are all NHS/public sector scum, you dirty scummy lovely caring people!

Another of those overpaid, over pensioned NHS types. 6 years at Uni, 10 years postgraduate training, 15 years of continuing education so far. Not an easy career change either way, in or out.

Yes PhilC people on here seem to be in IT, engineering or NHS! I'm a family support worker, I work with children in care for an Independent Fostering agency. Looking to study to be a social worker. Used to manage a record label, so an interesting career change for me - I can recommend them!

Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Brand and Marketing Consultant, general purveyor of new trousers for Emperors. Bit of video work, photography and copywriting thrown in too. Really varied, really enjoy it, pay is quite good.

I appreciate I'm going to end up on the 'B' ark, but I can always fall back on my Computer Science degree and maybe solve some of the world's real problems again...

I read, interpret, and write about late-antique and early-medieval Greek and Latin texts.

So when a thread appears about religion on here, I keep my mouth shut. Best to do that when you actually know something about a subject. 😉

I recruit NHS staff, and also dismiss NHS staff. I'm very busy dismissing NHS staff at the moment. Mostly the rubbish ones who can't come to work because they are 'ill' and the ones that are just plain rubbish at their jobs.....in a small way i'm helping my Trust to save £47,000,000 in budget cuts.

I design mobile phone networks - if you make a 3G call in pretty much any West African capital, there's a fair chance I'll have designed (part of) the network it gets carried over...

Think bigger drills, think 30,000 feet deep.

Its the companies software own, the main model is a mix of FORTRAN and C++ then some other stuff written in VB that some other developers deal with. I'm newish so only just getting to grips with it myself. Just been customising the some software for some clients. Even thought the model is largely written every operators rig operates slightly different with slightly different requirements.

I'm an applied mathematician, the other modellers are engineers or physicists. Pay is not the great tbh but prob just the firm I'm working for. Probably a bit different if you were working for an oil company as a reservoir engineer.
