It's a parasite. Swallow its seeds & it'll grow inside you. That one's probably rooted in a dead rabbit or something.

It would have to be non photosynthetic to grow inside an animal and whilst there are many parasitic plants there are very few totally parasitic plants and butterburr aint one of them.
