I know I know, live and let be, but what is it about anti monarchists and proclaiming their point as loudly as they can.

They cost too much...they earn too much...what do they do for us....

Please, just like everything else, please prepare an argument worth commenting upon. Don't just utter drivvle and expect wholehearted applause

Why don't you start the ball rolling by justifying the existence of monarchy?

are you asking what is wrong with someone being born into a position of power and authority over us all by vuirtue of being the eldest [ MALE} in a long line of back stabbing shits who killed their family or married them

Honestly I dont know where to start explaing it to you.
But its wrong.

😳
Sorry MSP i though this was how th thread was going - I did make more of a point that the person who does not want to justify their view but does want the right to explain why yothers are wrong. In that case can I add that lovers of the monrarchy have a lower IQ than republ;icans [ and perhaps even publicans] FACT

What would they do? Its hardly like they could go and get in the queue at Poundstretchers for a Christmas job?

I've got something in mind for Harry if you start a revolution I'll find him something to do.....

Have you seen this thread?

http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/remind-me-what-century-are-we-in-again

It's just a ludicrous anachronism that has no place in a modern democractic society. If you really need it explaining to you further.....

So let me ask you guys a question?

If any of you recruit staff do you limit your recruitment process to one person, perhaps the son of the person leaving for example?

NO?? Well why not? and if you can answer that you will be half way to answering your own question.

The second half is if you have God forbid recruited an idle and particularly useless creature into your job, do you simply hunker down and wait for them to die before doing something about it?

Once you’ve answered that you will pretty much have answered your whole question all by yourself.

There are two main reasons for objections to the Monarchy.

Firstly, the Great British national obsession with finding something to moan on and on about with regards to absolutely everything (especially if cost/tax-payers money can be brought into it).

Secondly, we're deeply suspicious/cynical about anything we don't properly understand and therefore resort to our default 'complain' setting. Unfortunately this often means spouting opinions without knowing any real facts about the subject.

It is for the same reason that the Daily Fail has survived for so long.

Chaps,

This is exactly my point.

Ramming home some ancient grudge. Are you basically sore because you think they have an easy life?

I personally think our political system sucks, but i don't advocate absolute change and revolution! Monarchy has it's place in our 'modern' system. Church and State are separate, unlike the US. Enormous amount of charity work, good causes, diplomacy and keeping trade relations going. In essence they are a brand against which many rely upon.

I'm not wanting to argue, and won't. Just understand me when I say I'm a loyalist, and can't quite get to grips with your hatred of such a fundamental part of our global identity.

???

Members of the Monarchy aren't "employed" as staff into the Royal Family... they're born into it, same as my kids are born into all the wealth and privileges that comes with being a member of my family 😕

Nice attempt to link The Daily Mail with not liking the royals - unfortunately I think you'll find you've got it the wrong way round.

Monarchy has it's place in our 'modern' system.

Like vetoing legislation that doesn't suit their business interests?

WTF are you on about - who is the head of the state here and who is the head of the church – CLUE its the monarch.
Who gets seats in an unelected legislative chamber and in which country [ clues the church in the house of lords here]

Who separates church and state - clue its the US

May i refer you to my earlier point abut royalists being stupid hence why my clues are answers 🙄

I don't live in utopia? Do you?

Do you think the Russians had it any better under Stalin?

Or maybe the US Senate is beyond reproach? In the US, where everyone is appointed, and nobody is given a free ride (except the Ivy League) they have to rely on the PR machinations of guilt ridden celebrities to support worthy causes...

That sounds like a much better system....lets hope the next round of Xfactor wannabes share your views

Yep. And at the expense of everyone else. Why not be sore?

Having said that, extra day's holiday next year for the jubilee, therefore hoorah for her majesty.

The Church and State are separate in the US, which is believed by some to explain why it is in such an awful state over there (zero regulation or public body scrutinise it). The Queen is head of the CofE, so in our country it isn't separate.

Oh. Okay. 😆

I'm with the Republicans on here, but I'm too bored today to feel extreme. Carry on!

The reason people hate the monarchy is because the royal family are far richer and more privileged than they are.

Pure jealousy. 8)

So everyone who would like a slightly more equitable division of wealth and power in this country is just jealous? Hmmm.....

I suppose so, yes.

But I'm pretty sure the cost versus the recouped monies based from direct and indirect sales attributed to the existence of our Monarchy make it a worthwhile, viable part of our identity.

I don't advocate our Monarchy stepping back into political limelight, but the function it plays helps to maintain barriers between opposing parts of our political and religious systems.

After all, this country should be proud of its ability to provide far more diversity of ideas and ideology than most.

Thanks for pointing that out, there was me thinking the reason why I don't like them is because they are un-elected. How stupid of me to believe that in what is supposedly a democracy after all.

I'm no monarchist.

But there's plenty of nations/principalities on your list that (in global terms) are getting along quite nicely, Norway, Sweden, Saudi, Qatar, Canada, Japan, Monaco and The Netherlands being good examples.

Wow hadn't noticed this. Sorry but can you expect people to take you seriously when you get a basic fact so massively wrong?

My point was based upon money being the deciding vote in their political process, and don't try and tell me that the churches, in all their many flavours don't apply great gobs of cash in regards to all sorts of issues voted upon.

The country is soooo religious, and you cannot expect religion not to persuade their views. It does.

Their constitution may separate it, but real life gets in the way of the written word, indeed what worries me most about their system and ours, for that matter are the forces at work that are never written down.
