In related news,
A bloke was milling around in the middle of the road near me the other night, wearing a black top, black hat and dark trousers. It'd probably have been a close call as I drove round the corner, had he not had the foresight to tuck a 6' kitchen worktop under his arm.

what the deal with running back to traffic or facing traffic, i always think its a bit wierd running towards traffic, because if they stop for you because a car is coming on the other side of the road you end up running right into thier car!
Same as when walking at night, it's so you can take some responsibility for your own safety by seeing what's coming. I know the drivers should take care to avoid me but i'd rather be alive than right if it comes to an either/or moment.
