With the i5 out, I've lost the plot as to what an i4 would sell for ... so I've mint 1 month old (used only for 1 day in the office and it's not for me so back in the box!) 8gb black iphone 4. I'm on O2 so assume it's on O2 now. What can I sensibly advertise this for?

Cheers

If it's on O2 it will probably be unlocked to all networks, if not you can sort it out easily from their website.

As for how much will it sell for? Less than you think, and quite often the best price can be found on one of the many websites that buy them.

50p. Don't worry, pop it in the post and I'll send and coin taped to a postcard.

if it's on a contract the trade in price is quite good. my bro paid ~£40 to upgrade

the price of 4 does seem to have tumbled

prior to the 5 announcement the 4 32gb was selling for 250-280 in good nick

now i see them all over for around 200.

unfortunantly this means 8gb not hugely valued in the grand scheme of things

The 4's were/are freely available free with a fairly low priced contract, £20 pcm for 24 months? The 4 never had Siri and with the new OS it has slipped back further in terms of desirability. Just think back to the "old days" phones were worth zero after 1 or 2 years so the fact this is worth a decent amount is quite good news.

The small memory isn't so attractive either.

when i bought my 4 the plan was to move to the 5 when it came out in 2 years time. im now going into my third year with my 4 and have no reason or desire to change it.

Works as good as it did when new , didnt put ios 6 on it so still have functional maps.

Did have a little blip with the battery but doing a factory reset fixed the issue - was after doing an OTA update to ios 5.1

the fact its still worth 1/3rd what i paid for it at market value boggles my mind as NO phone ive had in the past has made it past year 1 - those that havnt been sent back numerous times have looked like they have been to hell and back. Griffin and their functional cases have meant that im able to use all the features of my phone without taking it out the case like alot of the cases for my previous phones.
