Still in, finished work today and don’t plan on going anywhere near a town centre, radio or shop in the near future.

Barely heard any Xmas songs at all this year until tonight, now playing a game of Whamhalla Roulette, playing "Best music Xmas" on freeview ch.65 in the background. 😆

Just had the song I was convinced was Macca as a kid, Freiheit's Keeping the dream alive from '88.

Still in, but only just! This morning a piece about the Christmas number one camera on Radio 4. 'Google radio off'! Just in time.
I saw on the BBC website it's a contender, that's going to make the last few days a bit harder.  It's not going to get me though.

Ditched Radio Scotland's "news" programme this morning because of Christmas No. 1 wittering.  Like Covid, there is a lot of it about.

Tuesday evening. Gathering for a carol singing event and it came on the muzak playlist in the pub. I looked the landlord in the eye as I was ordering a pint at the time  and he grinned. He knew.

I’m still in

I spoke too soon, as now I'm most definitely out. 😫 Bollocks.
Winter solstice ride out with some of the gravel gang, and the cafe stop did for me. No music playing when we got there, thought I was safe, just sat down, on come the tunes. First tune on, Wham sodding Wham. They even played it twice. Raging. 🤣🤣

BBC news trailing an upcoming piece about the Christmas no. 1. If I wasn't home early I'd not have seen it. Bloody generous bosses!

I’ve never made it past the first week before. I was beginning to feel confident as it was my last working day today.

Bollocks.

Another strike to BBC news here.

Made it all the way last year too…

The radio station I listen to most also have a “intentional whammings don’t count” rule so whambushing isn’t a thing…

Who thinks the reason it is number one is due to all the downloads and sneaky streams of people trying to catch out their mates. I hear the royalties go to charity (is that right?). If so, that, and the good naturedness of the whole "game", makes it pretty awesome in my book. Thank heavens it wasn't Mariah Carey is all I can say!

Heard an intro to a story last night (R4) about the Christmas no.1.   Hit the off button just in case*. Phew!  The inevitable will happen today, I'm sure.

* to be fair, "Christmas no. 1" has always had that effect.

Still in! I'm currently trusting Mark Radcliffe on R6 to do the right thing. Off for a family pub lunch later which is the danger period 😬

Still in.  There are benefits to not listening to the radio at all.  Mrs g-d threatened to break it deliberately yesterday as everyone else has been out since early December.

Still standing , but the television is an insidious enemy.  Noise cancelling earphones are my friend - also helps that I am rather immobile with tendonitis so not out and about today enjoying the lovely weather.

This will possibly upset @ChrisL but I'm still in 😁

All it takes is being unemployed, avoiding all radio, and spending the minimum amount of time possible in public.

Still in, and feeling pretty smug about it having survived a couple of hours in the pub at lunch time. I reckon I'm safe now, we are watching the Mark Gatiss ghost story thing on iPlayer and then probably sacking it for the night. Happy Wham free Christmas 🙂

However the fun in this is getting to describe your demise, so I feel I may have missed out.
