What an adventure we had yesterday.
Mate had booked a test ride on an Orange 5. To get to Hawes we had a 2hr drive. We got to Kudu cyles shop only to find bike had not arrived. It was going to be late-ish due to a rebuild by Orange after being trashed at a demo day. Mark was tracking the delivery van and it was just up the street or so he and Orange thought. Unfortunately the van being tracked was the wrong one and after a couple of calls to Orange Mark obtained the correct tracking number so we went for lunch till bike arrived. On top of that it had started to rain.
The good bit is that Orange picked up our lunch tab. Thanks guys.
By the time we got back to the shop the bike had just arrived and it was now really wet.
We headed off up the Cam High road and it then dawned on us how wet it was/had been. The BW was like a river. I had not been up there for a few years and the erosion is horrendous. Good for mtbing but still bad if you know what I mean. The wind was also blowing us off the trail and the rain was now horizontal.
We decided once we were brakeless that it may be better to return to the shop and then retire to the chippy. We still managed the best part of 4hrs out in the driving rain and hurricane conditions and strangely enough thoroughly enjoyed ourselves 😀
