May have been what my sisters cat said last night when it found itself locked out in -5°C by a frozen cat flap 🙂

Only 6C in Cardiff this morning, still raining just as hard though. Couple of inches of standing water on the patio.

Shockingly bad here, rode 20 miles to work this morning in constant heavy rain 1deg C.

Luckily I dressed fairly well for it, just thighs were a bit cold. Everything is now attempting to dry ready for the return leg, which should be similar.

Nice and still and cold up here today, been about -1C most of the morning, fog struggling to lift. Quite like days like this. 🙂

No, -5°C and needing a blowtorch rather than a scraper for car windscreen is not normal for mid November 😐

Prawny, you are double hard mate. Commuting 40 miles every day by bike is hard enough but in this weather!!! I would have caved in long ago and ago and caught the car to work.

I [s]hate[/s] loathe the rain! I really struggled this morning to lump a 18lb baby and car seat in and out of the car along with an unbrella so that baby doesn't get wet as well as encourage an angsty 5 year old out of the car to breakfast club.

Me: 'come on, get out of the car please.'
1st born: 'No! it's raining.'
Me: (baby in car set under one arm, umbrella in other hand, car keys in mouth, through gritted teeth): get out of the car NOW!

Dreaming of the days when I was a student when if it was raining I would just turn the playstation and kettle on.

It about freezing in Glasgow and it was well below first thing, that's quite a temperature difference.

Its not that nice crisp cold either its that bastard bitey damp cold Western Scotland seems to specialise in.

The 28 miles into work today was tough, so much surface water and i've lost one of my two overshoes!

But on the plus side, tomorrow's forecast for me sees a 42mph tail-wind apparently!

Standard issue stuff here in Cardiff.

6c, raining.

It snowed on the mountains at the weekend and as low as BPW, FB reminded me that it did the exact same thing this time last year.

I was chatting to a friend yesterday about the weather we've been having recently. Whilst we're all subject to limited memories or cloudy judgements, we were of the same opinion that the weather patterns have changed.

5-10 years ago you could pretty much rely upon SW'ly winds and swells during Sept-Oct-Nov, you could set your watch by them. They would form in the mid Atlantic, head our way and hit the South Coast along the Jurassic Coastline first, then creep ever northwards up the country. Every 2 weeks one would pass through, we'd have strong winds, temp drops to about 15C and then they'd blow over and the sun would come out and the swell would remain and the temps creep back to 17C.. We'd get this pattern every couple of weeks right up to December when we'd get a stonking Northerly and bitter icy blasts that would stay around until late Jan then Feb would be strong winds from the South East and cold..
Now, well we have none of it. We are of the opinion that the mid Atlantic storms aren't coming our way anymore, but are much further North and hence hitting the upper middle part of the country, Northern Ireland and Southern Scotland. Thus leaving our part of the coastline with fickle and random wind angles and strengths. It's been commented on by all my mates at some point during the Summer, some would make a random comment of the lack of swell, the lack of wind, the lack of ....

But todays more like early Autumn of years gone by, with one odd angle, and that is the wind angle. Its coming from the South East... it really ought to be the South West. And yet the temps are 15C according tot he car.. it's all a bit blooming odd..

Up here they are saying that this month has had a January average temp.
As Fifeandy said -4 this morning and it's not 'warming up'that much.

I had the nursery and breakfast club run with my two, except I was using the bike and trailer. You'll forgive me if I'm less than sympathetic to your plight. 😉

Southside was wet and cold but the city centre is crisp and dry. Very nice!

We brought our herd indoors early last week, the fields are saturated.. That means 57 grumbling cattle in two sheds to muck out until March..

Up at 6am this morning to defrost the van which involved bunging a 1200w halogen heater inside on a long extension then retiring into house for breakfast then coffee followed by a 220 mile return drive to Edinburgh on very dodgy icy roads so on the way back home i treated the van to Kumho winter contact tyres all round, £240 of tyres on a van that cost me £500 - hope it doesn't need much for it's mot next month 😕

Extremely cold in north west England for the time of year - there is no way this is normal for November. This would be considered bad even in January!

Gets rid of all the fair weather pretenders 😆 Trails even at the weekend were empty but boy was it wet and cold. Made the mistake of wearing my summer shoes (had two paddling pools on my feet) and mitts, back to the van to change into proper winter gear, silly boy.

Last few years have definitely been the wettest I can remember.

Windy and the rain keeps stopping and starting.

Our High st is shut because a massive tree has been blown down across the road.

Sean Kelly once observed that it is impossible to tell how cold and wet it is by looking out the kitchen window. You have to get dressed, go training, and when you get back, you will know how cold it is. Truer words were never spoken.

Been bloody p1ssing down in London Village - I didn't need to venture out to find out how so......but I did!

Weather? Yes, it was stunning today at Inveraray, -2, bright sunshine, dusting of snow on the Argyll hills and Loch Fyne with a sparkling crust of ice on.

Seeing as April was also very cold this year, its like we've only had a 6 month break from Winter.

Driving town to Torquay this morning to pick up a couple of cars, and the rain on the A30/M5 was just biblical, we were stopped just outside Honiton for nearly an hour by an accident, no sign of any vehicles apart from the Highways cars when we finally got past, but there must have been nearly a couple of centimetres of water across the carriageway, so I reckon someone hit it and spun. On the way back up I saw a Mercedes facing the wrong way on the hard shoulder with the front ripped off, a 4x4 pickup that had reversed at speed into a traffic island, using a sign for a brake, with at least one front alloy totally wrecked, and lots of other stoppages and blue lights all over the place.
Glad to get home, picked up a Fiat 500 at 1.00pm, didn't get home until 6, approx 130mile trip.
I did stop to grab a coffee part way, though, to relax a bit! Like driving in thick fog, with the heavy rain, low cloud and heavy spray, with the addition of so much water across the carriageways making it 'interesting' driving...

Of course it's normal for November, what we have experienced for the last 18 or so years as autumn and winter are abnormal.
Look at the footage of UK rallying when it was sponsored by Lombard, every November, regular as clockwork, the RAC would hit town and it would be a whiteout

Unless the new temperate autumn winters we are now experiencing are the result of climate change, but as that ain't real.....

True, but then they redefined RAC to mean Rally Around Cheltenham and they stopped coming up north.

I felt a little hysterical fitting mine last week wearing shorts and a t shirt in 18c temps. It's very wet here now but by no means cold yet at about 8c, but I'm off up to the Lakes tomorrow which should make the whole exercise a bit more worthwhile.

Just cold and wet today, rather than cold and very wet.

Overshoes, shoes and gloves were still soaked from yesterday. Need to get some spare shoes.
