What's the best way to connect laptop to tv so I can watch on a big screen?

PC laptop or Mac?

We use a vga cable that goes straight from the computer into the back of the telly then works on one of the AV channels.

If you have a Mac you will need the relevant mini-hdmi to vga adaptor I think.
