Before visiting a real life doctor or physio I thought I’d ask the hive mind to diagnose my problem for the giggles. Basically I’m getting some pretty bad knee pain when exercising. Said pain is in my left knee and only kicks in when bending. Normally starts just before my thigh gets parallel with the floor and then hurts like a SOB through roughly 15/20 degrees before easing off.

It only happens on the downward movement, not on the way back up and is intermittent. It stopped for a few week, but has come back with a vengeance this week. Kettle bell swings are the worst offender on the pain scale.

I’ve already taken a home test for the bad cat aids, so that can (thankfully) be ruled out. My money is on a cartilage based issue caused by a misspent youth of being very bad at skateboarding, a love of jumping off, over or in to things and martial arts.

Hit me with your injury suggestions. Who knows, there might be a prize for best idea!

I was just wondering if it was the same problem that I have, for which I have to do squats, but my pain isn’t behind the kneecap.

Squats are almost as bad as kettle bells for setting it off to be honest. Oddly it’s been worse squatting with body weight. You were very close to giving me a sensible answer though vickypea. How are the manuals coming along?

Derailing my own thread 😀

Sounds like Cutaneous Cat Aids to me. Can be fatal.

I'm sorry but your leg will have to be amputated. It can be done at home with a bottle of scotch (or tequlia for more fun/hangover) and a kitchen knife/chainsaw. remember to use a vaguely clean tea-towel as a bandage and a few big rubber bands to minimize bleeding.

Sensible answer - tight ischia tibial band.   Causes the knee cap to pull out of line and catch
