They can do, or at least used to, but if you've ordered a frame that not in their stock, they ain't gunna be able to... I'd assume the same happens at SS's.
Go on damn that helpful man who thought you might be in a rush for your glasses, so gave you the option to get them as soon as possible.
If this was your LBS with a part, that might get you back riding, would you be moaning about that too?
you do realise some lenses if non standard (this includes all Bifocals, varifocals and alot of single vision lenses) can take approx 8 days to manufacture if coated, so it just might be that that causes the delay*
*this may actually have nothing to do with the OP's delay and I wouldn't want to be seen defending the multiples but fairs fair
