One of my mums older dogs has been dodgy in her old age. Today her back legs went and that’s all she wrote. Rung 5 local vets to get her put down, none will do it as we need a booking. So tried what about if we bring the dog in the car will you do it in the back of the car, 2 minutes, done. Nope, Covid. Ridiculous

Have you tried Vets Now? they're usually pretty good for emergencies - it's their dedicated service after all.

That’s crap.
Our cat had a short vicious illness that needed a number of appointments at short notice including the final one where they squeezed us within half an hour. Our local vets were nothing but helpful. Had to drop her at the door and wait outside, except for the last one where my wife was allowed in with her for her final moments.

Any mobile "vet in a van" set ups near you?

Poor show. Earlier this year my dauighter's elderly cat which had been poorly for a while went rapidly downhill. Not only got an appt within 2 hours but they let her sit in a room in the surgery with her cat while it was done.

Of course we have used that vet for 5 different dogs and 3 cats over the last 25 years. I'd have been disappointed had we been unable to get an appt.

Any other post Covid appointments we have handed the dog or cat over outside in the street but I'm glad they bent the guidance for Storm's last vet trip.
