Mrs Gob's cousin, has a huge collection of mint condition Star Wars toys.

He is autistic, in his 30's, still lives at home with her Aunt but he holds a job down. He's just a bit "different".

The collection goes back to when he was a kid and recently I heard her Aunt wanted to get rid but they ended up in the shed.

I read on the news about a collection of Sta Wars toys fetching £250k at auction recently. Now I don't think that his collection will be quite as valuable but it definitely sounds like its worth a few thousand.

How would you go about getting them fairly valued and arranging insurance?

Would photos to a toy specialist be a good start?

Any recommendations?

I have a significant original collection from when I was nipper.
I suspect what you describe is very much better condition than what I have but...

I looked into selling it and in short if they are played with they are not worth very much.

Best thing to do is look on eBay for an idea.

Generally a figure is worth a couple of quid and spaceships etc a bit more.

If they are original 80s toys and still boxed then I would immediately get more friendly with the owner!

Is it sealed in boxes? Makes a big difference. Most of the big ticket items are early unopened items.
Quite a few Star Wars forums with good info, probably a better bet than here.
Some weird things get good money. BITD my Yoda was stolen at school. Last year I sold the cane and snake for £30!

As I understand it, they were never played with and are still boxed.

In that case get them out of the shed. To somewhere dry and safe.

They had arranged for skips because they had no idea of how valuable some of the items were, Mr Aston said

😲 Doesnt say how many items but it must have been a pretty big collection if it needed 'skips'.

Very intriguing whats in the shed (and,as previously said, best get them out of there before the mice and damp ruin them). Still got my original Millenium Falcon (with the box although its a bit tatty) but Im not expecting much value in it.

If they are original boxes he could be sitting on a very valuable collection. 6 figures is not unheard of.

Get them stored properly and find a specialist.

Please post back once you find a value!

I’d guess there was more than just some action figure going in the skip.

OP look for an auction that specialises in toys they may be able to give a value.

In his 30s could mean that the collection is made up of a lot of stuff that was re-re-released in the 90s or from the prequels, which means that boxed or not, it’s far less valuable.

Fair point, I never considered that.

To worth something it needs to be boxed, unopened, from the 80s and then some figures are worth a lot more. My 80s collection of good quality used toys including Falcon, AT AT and around 50 figures and weapons plus other vehicles made 650 via Ebay about 10 years ago.

Needs to be really good condition and go through a proper auction house to make big bucks.

6 figures of boba fett with launchable rocket would buy you a new house though 😀

@stumpyjon, what condition was your collection in? I'm literally in the process of tidying away my original 80s stuff the 5 and 3 year old have been playing with. tbh it's a bit big to try to store so thinking of getting rid. it's well played with though

Check the sold prices on eBay.

I sold my early 80s millennium falcon for about £100, lots of interest and lots of last minute bidding. It did have a box but that was mainly tape after years of being fixed and the actual toy was very well used.

DT78, it was well played with, i can still remember playing with the AT AT in a snow drift outside the house with my brother as it got dark, but in good nick, no damage and the figures had all their accessories but no boxes.

If anyone wants to make real money dig out any Britain's farm toys you have, that sold for loads on Ebay. I had 4 tractors my wife made me take out of the bin, chewed exhausts, missing cabs and wrecked paint, went for £60!

Yes!

I sold my old farmyard toys on eBay a few years ago for a ridiculous amount. Utterly bizarre.
