Where are you staying? A lot of the city bars have gone touristy, i like ruzafa, calle sueca. The bakery there el horno de valencia is the best.  Casa montana, cabanyal, best tapas by miles but you need to book.

Just walk around the centre, central market, cathedral, metro to beach area.

I think theres a bus to el palmar for a paella and boat trip.

I went with the family, and really enjoyed it. Highlights were...

A walk along the park in the riverbed

A visit to the beach

A mooch around the various markets

A visit to the Bioparc

A visit to the aquarium

If I was going without a family, I'd definitely go and watch a footy match and hit a few bars.
