Possibly looking at buying one of these. Built in Sunderland Bought new in Melbourne 2011 exported buy current owner and only owner to Auckland. FSH Manual ST 2.0l petrol version 90,000km's. What do I need to know things to be aware of

Car is a Manual which aren't very popular over here, but my son is learning to drive and I'd like him to learn in a manual from the beginning rather than an auto

Advice will be much appreciated

I've got a 59 plate diesel. 170k miles on now. The brakes are ****ed. Something on the front suspension is ****ed. The dpf is ****ed. The clutch makes a clicking noise, and a huge clunky when you depress it. The battery is ****ed so it takes about 2 minutes to start up in the cold. It cost 500 quid at it's last MOT.

Was a brilliant car up until the 100k mark. I don't even remotely look after cars either. I'd probably avoid it though!

Nissan Qashqui? Do you mean a Dualis?

It is a Dualis but I was informed in the original thread that you don’t have them under that name in the uk and that they’re Quashqia’s.

Rear shocks used to fail. The 2l is pretty low tech and robust.

Other than that corrosion but I doubt it's an issue at your end of the world.

Have a look at the reliability indexes.

I seem to remember that it's one of the most expensive cars currently available when it comes to cost per mile, based on repairs.

I knew that, I just wanted to see if I could get you to change it back again 🙂

We have a 2012 N-Tec+ 1.6 petrol that's been fault free. Great family car.

I had 09 1.6 petrol for 6 months. It will get you from A-B but it’s the slowest/dullest most uninspiring car I’ve ever owned !

You've never owned a Corolla then?

We have a 2010 2.0 DCI (diesel) +2 tekna as our second car and it’s comfy enough on long trips and has plenty of go. It helps that the tekna has all the bells and whistles they offered. Certainly not had any issues with it.

The in-laws have one and my god it is dull - it performs the magic trick of looking about 15 years older than it actually is - just everything is so old-fashioned and clunky and plasticky and dull and uninspiring.

It is also an auto which makes the rest of the car seem cutting edge state of the art modern by comparison.
