Looks like a good idea, as they say, if it keeps one person out of the NHS then it'll pay for itself.

I do think a more 'Cuban' attitude to public health would be no bad thing. If the population was arranged into a normal distribution accoding to health, their system intervenes when you start to move away from 'normal' whereas the NHS (and most other western/developed national health systems) catch you just before you fall off the end of the curve, where it's much more expensive.

"put the cake down"
"choose a route around town that doesn't pass greggs"
"turn off the tv"

Going to be difficult to judge performance of the scheme, but IMO experimental schemes like this should be encouraged.
(although I wish more was done to control food producers)

Catchy little slogans, that's what they need... us fatties love a bitesize mantra:

Too much cake, belly shake

Less butter, more buffer

Overdone the sugar, ooh ya bugger

"You're poor."

"You're more likely to be obese, get cancer and develop heart disease."

"Therefore it's all your own fault."

"Despite the demographic realities."

"Why not do us all a favour and kill yourself now? It'd be cheaper in the long run."

Or, how about:

"You've developed an inherited chronic condition."

"You can no longer move around much"

"Therefore it's all your own fault."

"Despite the genetic realities."

"Why not do us all a favour and kill yourself now? It'd be cheaper in the long run."

If they could find a way of measuring success of this trial then it would be great to see the results of:

"use the stairs more"
"eat less"
"etc"

Vs positive affirmations like:

"You are a wonderful human being"
"love yourself unconditionally"
"Life is beautiful"
"You have what it takes to be healthy"
or similar

"It's OK, you can just tell people that you're 'bubbly'. They'll all know what that means really, though."

I iz dubious, but then I'm a right cynical sod, hope it works, on the face of it if it's an auto message thing rather than personal thing and it works I'd have thought it should be fairly cheap to run.

You are a beautiful and unique snowflake
I thought that too 🙂

Interestingly, if one goes to Teh Wiki...

Today, biffers tend to be known as big hitters.
