bought my lad a cheapo tesco samsung E1080i phone and was hoping to use his giffgaff sim card. however it asks for an SP code. i assume that means service provider.

a quick google doesnt bring me any codes, just options to pay websites. is my only option to pay up, probably from the market, or is there any software i could use, along the same lines as rooting for instace?

cheers

You can use DCUnlocker to unlock it, but you'll have to buy some credits (probably less than a tenner's worth).

Or, for ease, take it to one of those phone unlock fellas who'll do it for you (probably using DCUnlocker on their laptop.

There's no free, safe way of doing it really.

Actually, ignore me, I'm not sure DC Unlocker will work

Ring the original provider, they should do it for you.

Isn't it time carrier-locking was outlawed? Bloody ridiculous practice.
