The problem is Europe does not know how to do it without dividing the people.

Says STW's second most fervent Europe seperator after the Caprpenters fan.

I can’t remember. Were the streets full of cheering people in 2016?

In Russia, yes.

I dipped into Twitter to have a quick looksie.... Which reminded me why I almost never do it BUT... it's a beautiful thing to see so many Tory voters in a rage simply because Johnson welcomes in the new leader of the US.😄 Bloody snowflake moaners.😉

Describing America as the UK's most important ally was a huge presumption and it certainly isn't reciprocated as Johnson is about to find out. I reckon Biden will be genuinely pleased if he sees that photo with Rita and Gerry in the DM.

Regarding congratulatory messages - pretty well every administration will have two or more prepared statements to release depending on outcome and the size of victory. So once it was apparent that Biden had won it was just a case of saying "release that one".

We can't build our new generation of nuclear subs without US assistance (only the warheads of the US Trident missiles are UK designed and built), plus who else can we call an ally right now, the EU?

My missus just perused the Joe Biden Wikipedia page and someone had added a "Goatsee" pic in place of his photo...

Looks like the Qanaon lot are taking this with customary maturity and dignity...

He’s going to be bitterly disappointed when he gets there and discovers that he’s still in the USA. Cold comfort indeed!

Given how Bojo has alienated everyone else, he is just saying the only option he has is of course the best one.

What's he going to say - Dear Joe, stick your protectionist democratic tendencies up yer jacksie and do a trade deal with me or I send Gove over there as ambassador?

The day won't be complete until Melania and Ivanka have a full on punch-up on the White House lawn.

My only concern is how slow or fast China will consume the world as we in the far east know something is coming …

Well, slightly slower now given that Trump will get prosecuted and thrown in jail and so won't be able to pay such a big chunk of taxes to the Chinese any more.....

Looks like little old Blighty is going to look rather stupid as the western world's only practitioner of politics by pant-shitting tantrum.

Still, Biden values the GFA, so it's BRINO or total self-inflicted economic armageddon. I reckon De Pfeffel will revert to cowardly type and cave in to being a 'vassal state'. Stick that in your smoke and pipe it, Brexity ones.

Outdoor transmission virtually 0

There was no surge after blm protests

Partying outside is fine

Difference between a protest and a party, I bet 10 pence there are more bodily fluids swapped tonight than there were at all the BLM protests combined.

Have Fox News started showing video of Brown People firing AKs in the air “celebrating Biden winning” yet? It’s their usual go-to move when a Democrat wins.

I don’t get how people can drink the koolaid so much as to think that Biden will be more protectionist than Trump. Look at the real world, stop listening to talking points provided to you by bad faith actors.

that Biden will be more protectionist than Trump

Because Democrats are generally protectionist and don't like trade deals, particularly free trade deals and Republicans like free markets and so like these deals. That's not koolaid, that's just history. Look at which administrations have signed the big trade deals in the US.

Part of how Trump flipped some democratic voters in 2016 is because he trash talked Nafta and TPP.

While Biden isnt nearly the progressive he makes himself out to be and has voted for trade deals in the past, I suspect a Biden White House will have to bend to the will of the democratic diaspora and will not be particularly trade friendly.

Not provided by a dubious actor:

Protectionist is perhaps the wrong word. Biden wants American to "insist on fair trade", but the reality is that he want's to reduce the reliance on imports and protect American industry - protectionist.

Its behind a paywall but if you register you get a few free articles. It’s about how the UKs relationship with the US under Biden

https://www.ft.com/content/77ed195c-303e-49cf-adb9-9aadb3f80ba2

After last year’s general election, he described the UK prime minister as “a physical and emotional clone” of Mr Trump.

Off to a good start!

Mr Biden and his team judge Brexit to be a historic error — both for the UK and American interests in Europe.

Well, that’s two things right.

However it does also point out that the U.K. US relationship under Trump has been generally unproductive with Donald making a lot of words but not really doing anything that helps the U.K. notably with a trade deal which hasn’t really got anywhere.

It also talks about Biden Irish heritage and commitment to the GFA and an expectation that the U.K. will have a productive rather than combative relationship with the EU.

There’s also a suggestion that Biden will prioritise relationships with France as well.

What are the odds that when Biden gets into the White House he'll find Trump has done a dirty protest all over the walls in every single room?

Lindsey Graham is such a snake with no balls what so ever, here's what he thought of Trump 5 years ago,
A race baiting xenophobic bigot, a jackass, a wrecking ball for the future of the Republican party, I cannot in good conscience support Donald Trump, you know how to make America great again tell Trump to go to hell. He also said Trumps muslim ban endangered every American in the middle east.
This is a man who was a close friend of John mcCain and called Trumps comments about McCain disgusting, now he's giving him half a million, Ted Cruz also has no balls, Trump insulted his wife, calling her ugly and hes still kissing his arse.

Well unequal free trade deals can be bad for one side, can't they? And most trade deals with the US are going to be unequal.

I'm too fatigued by all this, but does this actually make Biden more MAGA than old Irn Bru face when it comes to American Industry?
