As long as he’s got twitter

I wouldn't be surprised if twitter delete him as soon as he's beaten.

Looking at the positives of all this, can we all agree that the star of this whole show has been 'The Mooch'?

Anthony Scaramucci's emergence as a political commentator and perennial PITA to Trump has been a joy to behold. I hope the BBC keeps using him for anything America related.

His bluntness is brilliant. This morning, when asked about Trump launching all these legal challenges he simply said "He can launch as many as he likes, he won't win any!"

That's be nice. Although would you notice one less turd in a sewage farm?
They could just charge him a dollar everyone he gets an automatic fact warning on a tweet. He'd be bankrupt, well, bankrupter, in a week.

That's perilously close to what they said about how the shouty pumpkin got to be prez.

Mooch is more in '24 anyone?

On a Twitter screenshot I saw some graphs for how the percentage has changed over time for each state - so it showed Biden catching up in Georgia for example. Does anyone have a link to a site that does them?

I’ve just watched it for the first time and it is genuinely disturbing.

It does seem like they are getting desperate. That Jason Miller guy's Twitter feed is full of retweets of articles about spurious announcements they've made, as if somehow that proves the veracity of the announcement. Surely even dumb people can see what's going on there.

The perils of calling a result too early:

If Nevada is decisively Biden, as now seems likely, and everyone calls it, Fox is going to have a crazy tense decision about uncalling Arizona. Because, if they don't, they got to call the whole thing.

Yes! No! Err, maybe ...

No… people fall for it if it’s repeated enough.

Is it time to place bets on *how* Trump will take the news he is out?

Full flounce?
A week of refusal to step away from Twitter followed by midnight flit from the back entrance of white House and a taxi to Mar a Lago?
Legal fight for months?
Sit-in dirty protest in the oval office?

My money is on squatting in the white house and refusing to leave claiming he won. then Biden becomes president and federal police go in to remove him

The form I saw was huge with all of the votes on the same piece of paper! You’d think they would have separate forms for each vote and separate boxes like we do, then they can count the presidential vote first and the others in order of importance.

But then that would be sensible.

The importance is the voting not the counting - When you see the length of the queues at poling stations and the time commitment people have to make to vote its not a great idea to make the act of voting more time consuming by having multiple ballot papers and ballot boxes. It doesn't matter how long it takes to count the votes - whats the difference if the result is announced in hours, days or weeks - its the same result. What matters is that voters vote as freely and easily as possible

Also, the counting looked mechanised from some of the news reports. Just feed one ballot paper in, numbers come out the end. Process seemed to be...

Big machine opens all the envelopes (some don't work so done by hand);
Ballot papers removed, validated, put your hand up if issues -> they go off to another team for analysis, poll watchers swarm around checking all being done properly;
Stacked and loaded into counting machines;
Results then sent (via a USB stick!) to another office for more checks, tabulation and release.

Not a quick process.

Good work by the counter-protest. Bondi's involved in all this.

One commentator on CNN earlier reckoned with over 68 million votes, Trump will continue to be a major force in US politics even if he loses. Hadn't considered that, assumed he'd just move on

With luck he will end up in jail.
Tax fraud,
Russian money Laundering
Whatever Ghislaine Maxwell has on him
Plenty other things no doubt.

He is also 74 and obese, the stress of the past while will do him no favours how long has he left to live?

Hopefully a while so that he gets to have his lies and misdemeanours exposed for all to see, serve some time and then when he does pop it he'll be denied a giant Sate Funeral for bringing the US into disrepute.

In the same way the Hillary Clinton has been for the last few years? She had quite a lot of votes

In away Trump is a side issue. He doesn't really believe in much of what he says, politically. - he might believe it when he says it but not yesterday or tomorrow. Its worth remembering he used to donate to various democrat candiditates in the past. But he's never even voted in the past - he's not interested.

When was elected in 2016 it wasn't really on the basis of who he was it was more about what he 'promised' which was basically a mix of  what he was seeing on fox and what a few well placed people were whispering in ear before he spoke. He has no firmly held beliefs or political vision - when asked what he'd do in a second term as president he couldn't think on one single thing. But his supporters and the people that have propelled him to power very definitely have ambitions

If he loses this time.... its not because those voters have changed their minds - had some kind of liberal epiphany -  it'll be because enough of those voters have realised he can't deliver any of what they want. But they still want it . Trump can make a bit of money off the back of that- but they'll be looking to others to actually deliver that agenda. The people whispering in his ear will have other ears to whisper in and Fox wills still be Fox - presuming Murdock's third favourite heir keeps the ship sailing on course when Rupert kicks it.

As I think dazh said, what we don't want to see is him doing a deal for immunity with Biden. Perhaps all this agitating is so he can say "all of this will go away if we can talk..." But to be fair he's unable to think a few chess moves ahead so it's probably Occam's razor in full effect

He is going to try and strip it bare and take it back to Trump tower, where he will recreat the oval office and pretend the election never happened. He'll just sign random pieces of paper with his arrythmic ecg in magic marker signature and wonder why no one is listening to him.

No, because Trump spoke directly to his base via Twitter. Clinton relied (and still does) on old media and tv appearances.

He'll continue to rile up his base via Twitter and rallies. The tweets he's pumping out right now aren't what he thinks, they are calls to arms for his followers and it's working.

That's not going to change anytime soon. He lost the soft swing voters he got last time but like Biden he has increased the number of people he got to come out for him..

The Beeb just had a member of Trumps staff on. Quite measured for. Trump staffer, saying things like “he just wants all legal votes counted” etc.

He did say though that Trump has such a massive following that he would be the default candidate in 2024 should he lose this one.

This is nonsense. He’s been working to his current game plan for months. Long, slow, complicated strategy has been played out, ready to declare late votes as crooked votes, despite it being his team that ensured they would be ‘late’ by reducing drop offs, blocking early counts, and preventing postal service efficiencies.
