I've got a Google smart alarm clock radio thing next to the bed which is great - you can just tell it to set alarm time, it plays music, all the usual radio alarm stuff, plus it has a built in wake-up light come night light, and can do all the google mini stuff like switch on/off smart sockets elsewhere.

Anyway my wife wants one her side too. Whats going to happen when I say 'set alarm for 6am' and she says 'set alarm for 7am'. Can you set google devices to specific voices, would it work out which device was nearer, or would both alarms go both times.

I may just get her a clockwork one.

I think when you set it up you use your Google account and links to your voice. I know this because if I ask it to find my phone it knows it's me. Chances are though they'll both pick up the 'ok google' trigger.

I know it’s not the same, but with the Amazon devices you set the wake word to be different for each device. Is that an option?

You can also name each device - so 'set alarm on device a' or 'device b' should work.

Yeah I'd name them and set them using the name.

Supposedly they recognise different voices....but, my Wife and I have our Spotify accounts linked to our Google accounts and quite often if she asks Google to play a track it will stop my music and start playing hers. My account is default on the speakers.
If she controls the music through her phone it doesn't do this.

I've got a feeling you can also turn off the voice detection on one device so it doesn't just end up in a confusing mess. This should still set up the alarms correctly if you name them.

Why not start an arms race with your wakey-uppy devices.

She’s going to be looking disappointedly at her online device and jealously viewing your side of the bed when this little beauty wakes you with a nice cup of Earl Grey

I'd rather have a goblin teasmade - but the wife might object
