Travel insurance "computer says no"

Trying to get travel insurance for myself & Mrs dB for a two week trip - stumbling block is that she recently had a camera investigation, nothing found & no concerns but they routinely take a biopsy, results of which we won't get until after we leave or even before we get back... But trying to get insurance when you declare "awaiting results" is proving difficult even with specialist medical insurance & I don't want to give them an excuses should the worst happen.

Basically just need to find an insurer who I can talk to & get some sensible decision, anyone any suggestions?

Staysure worked ok for my mum, with a list of maladies. You can look online and see if something's likely to be covered. However, the uncertainty is always going to be a problem (=££)

But, for future reference, annual travel cover is almost always the best way forward.

There are only really 2 outcomes if you do find somewhere (think it was a place called Medicare or something along those lines that I knew of many moons ago). You’re either going to pay a fortune to be covered, or not be covered for anything that crops up that might be even the slightest bit related to the investigation.

is postponing until you have the results an option?

Unfortunately not, going to a wedding...

We don't often travel and I needed some motorcycle travel insurance for later in the yr so hadn't bothered & waited for results of medical investigation but have been scuppered by the routine biopsy...

Where are you traveling to? If it's Europe then just go for it. Get cover excluding that issue if you can and then get on with your life

You would think. I was checking my annual travel insurance policy this afternoon as the Mrs has a docs visit coming up and also has a few trips booked in the next month or two. I wanted to make sure she had cover if she happens to be diagnosed with anything.

My cover states that despite it being an annual policy, if we book any trips without telling them beforehand about any potential conditions or treatment, then we may not be covered if we don't contact them first.

That's with my "Platinum" bank account travel insurance via Allianz

There's a reason travel insurance has the lowest claim payout rate of any type of insurance, because no one checks the typically very stringent small print

@thegeneralist - other side of the world, so not really an option.

I did get a price from staysure (3x more than not declaring) but not worth the risk of ending up resorting to gofundme with sad face, so I'll call them in the morning 🤞

When was the biopsy done, and when are you travelling?

Depends where you're going, but you might need a UK GHIC as well.

Travel Insurance is probably the worst insurance experience of any. Hateful.

Have a safe trip

Well, yes. It's not a charity 😁

Don't forget you also need to tell insurers about any illness for anyone connected with you who may fall ill and mean you have to cancel or curtail your trip...

Travel insurance is always a challenge,  but annual is by far the best plan.

Whilst sat listen to the 'hold' drivel at Insure and Go, they did spout some gibberish about some trade body with a full list of insurers/underwriters for existing medical issues. I can't find a link, but these should be safe to contact:
