I'm coming to the end of Peter Moore's Vroom by the Sea (very good BTW) and was wondering what to get next.
Any recommendations?
Bill Bryson does it for me.
Tahir Shah for me atm (all good). Willaim Dalrymple, 9 lives, was good.
Patrick Leigh Fermor - A Time of Gifts and Between the Woods and the Water. First two volumes of a trilogy, third expected early next year
These and loads of other travel books and maps available from Stanfords
Try the next author along on the travel section shelf: Tim Moore.
may be adventure more then travel but ive really enjoyed these recently; 'moods of future joys' by Alistair Humphreys and its part 2 'thunder and sunshine' or 'the brendan voyage' by Tim Severin
Anything by Ryszard Kapu?ci?ski or Bruce Chatwin.
Read all of Peter Moore’s, Tim Moore’s and Tony Hawks’ too. Can’t get along with Bill Bryson despite several attempts.
Eric Newby, Bruce Chatwin, Kevin Andrews "Flight of Ikaros" (best ever travel book about Greece - sadly hard to find)
how about John Simpson? More History/autobiography but it is mostly travel and very readable/ interesting
