[Closed] Tracking down old Premium Bonds - any clues where to start?

My sister and I are acting as Deputies for an elderly relative - we have been told that there were a number of Premium Bonds in their name from many years back - possibly registered at their old address.

Does anyone have any experience of tracking PBs down and re-calibrating the records to recognise their current address (Care Home) and status?

Thanks in advance !

Yeah i did, i phoned them, and they sent me a letter telling me what to do.
Iirc all i had to do was write a covering letter telling them the last known address the bonds were registered at as well as the name obviously.
It took a few weeks, but they soon wrote back with a cheque for my winnings.
Took me a while to decide what to do with the £75 . . .

Boom!, £75 ftw!

Thanks Marty, I assume they then re-attached (?) the bonds to you at your new address?

I did the same as martymac. In fact I just wrote a hand written letter to them with old addresses, likely names etc. They responded with the old PB numbers and then they added them to the current account of PB's I had.

Thanks all - could be interesting...while exploring I am going to see if I can track down a few that I was told were in my name when I was a kid (and I'm 51 now!!)

Will let you all know if I am looking for ideas how to spend / hide my windfall!

Presumably they would also inform you of any winnings?

That's pretty much what I did - I was told my dad (now deceased) had bought a couple of bonds when I was born, in my name. That was nearly 50 years ago too!

Anyway they found them and got put onto my own pb account. Winnings after 50 years? Zero!

£2, at 2% over 50 years would net you £3.43 in interest, so I'm not really surprised...

Well I got my letter from NS&I and they’ve updated my details for my long lost Premium Bond. Yup, Bond. One Pound value. Guess I won’t be retiring just yet.
