Planet India in Brighton. Great Gujarati food, proper beer selection (including Trappist), reggae on the sound system.

Surprised nobody's mentioned Diwana, around the corner from Euston Station.

+1 for the Dhabba in Glasgow I was there on Saturday.

The Pir Palace in Uddingston is also great, food is unbeliavable if you can live with the sticky carpets and 15 year old wallpaper!

The Viva Goan, just outside Calangute towards Candolim. Bit far to travel for what looks like a transport caff but hells bells, the curries in there are the real thing, plus....
2 starters,
2 mains,
1 keema rice (it's all you need for 2)
2 garlic naans,
5 Kingfisher beers,
£4.40 each.
I felt like a burst couch.

Another vote for the Spice Lounge in Culcheth, astounding food.

Also the Malanchoo in Earlstown. Staff are very friendly, food is excellent and they do free delivery for take-away. Strongly recommended.

Another vote for Mother India, both the cafe and main restaurant. Garlic pittas are excellent and there's a lamb leg dish for two, the remains of which are usually carted up the road in a doggy bag.

Sheesh on Kirkstall Rd, Leeds.
Kashmir in Bradford
Got to say it as its slightly commercialised but the Aagrah eat-all-you-can buffet in Shipley was amazingly good. Possibly the best I've ever had. And it had jelly and ice cream for desert.
Kamraan in Halifax for excellent food despite last time I went them being in the middle of refurbishment works so I was literally sat in a building site with plastic sheets over everything for the dust. But for a fiver for 3 courses, who can complain!

Anyone else been to Mumtaz in Bradford? What a place that is!

Their turnover must be tens of millions.

Kushis in Edinburgh... Though the quality seems to have fallen a bit with the move to the new place. My mum and dad have been going there since about 1960  the Mosque Kitchen's also very good.

Of the five in Truro (rather a lot for such a small "city") the cheapest is the best!

Spice Hut, takeaway only.

All I'll add is don't go to Akbars in Bradford. Recent bad experience and disappointing service.

Indian Brasserie in Cheltenham is good for fresh South Indian food

Curry Corner in Cheltenham is awesome for that fine dining special occasion curry.

aisa llandudno, was amazing.... however it could have been the fact that I had been awake for 72 hours and had just run 26 miles over 10000ft of climbing that made it taste to sweet.

The Orchard Maharajah on Cuppage Terrace in Singapore.

The recently opened Mr. India in Warwick is very good too.

I know it's highly rated but it didn't do much for me - I guess it's very 'authentic. It was quite a few years ago but I remember having to chose from a few already prepared dishes (majority vegetarian) - prefer to be able to select from a nice long menu.

Can't believe Joolsburger said Mirch Masala in Norbury - small world and a great great shout: we would regularly drive there from Brighton (~50 min drive).

The other tip is a members-only club just outside Crawley called The Ram which has a restaurant and bar. The food, just as at Mirch, is properly authentic, properly delicious and incredibly good value.

Now I want curry, not spag bol 😀

The Kohinoor in Portswood in Southampton used to be pretty good!

Had a very good Nepalese in The Swan Inn in Hythe (Kent, not Hampshire!). It was very tasty, and the staff couldn't do enough for us (also a very good place to stay if you have an early train on the Channel Tunnel, or ferry from somewhere)

Our own Red Fort just outside Basingstoke is very good too - we always get free poppadums with our takeaway, and it's always very busy.

+ yet another for Mother India, Glasgow.

Down south, meanwhile... Kashmir on the Cowley Road, Oxford, is very good, but BYOB.
Also very good is our local, Out of India, on Ashby Road, Shepshed. If you get to J23 on the M1 and you find that you could murder a curry, do it... Turn off, head west for a mile and there, like a little desert mirage disguised as a converted pub, is one of the best Indians for miles around. Well, outside of Leicester, anyway. Try the chef's specials, you will be glad you did.

Seven Spices in Pembroke Dock, for those of you holidaying in Pembrokeshire or waiting for a ferry to Rosslare!
Best of an average collection of small town enterprises in the south Pembs area...

East Molesey, Cocum the new one in Bridge Road loads better than Sahee Mahal South Indian food, really light, aromatic sauces. You should try it Teef!

I will - next weekend

Went to the Cocum on Saturday - food was good but service was slow and rather erratic. I think I'll stick to the Shahee Mahal.

The akbar in stapleford, it looks nothing from the outside but the food is stunning, it really is the only reason to go to stapleford!!
