I'll probably record it - forgot to book the time off tomorrow.

I've no real allegiance here either. In this sort of case I generally root for the AFC team and then watch them lose.

But yet, still interesting enough that you felt the need to take the time to pass comment. Are you stuck for something to do? It's nice riding weather.

Yup, and I enjoy it for that spectacle.

Not a NFL fan at all, but always watch the Superb Owl.

I'm a Giants fan so New England aren't popular here. Go Falcons!

Day off booked for tomorrow, currently in bed ready to nap after the six nations, jump bike fettled for a day at the park tomorrow,

Only thing missing for tonight is beer and hotdogs, but then I do have the chub club to consider

As for the results I'd like to see the Falcons do it, however realistically I doubt it

Not missed one since 1985, never taken the following day off work either - just sit quietly in a corner of the office with coffee.

Falcon's seem to be favourites with some US bookies, Patriots here , probably due to their bandwagon following. That's enough for me to stick a few ££ on Atlanta. Plus...Trump is a Patriots fan.

Off for a quick nap now.

It'll be on the Beeb P-Jay.

I'd like to see the Falcons take it. Pats have had plenty.

Makes me chuckle at the number of friends who suddenly are fans when it's on and have declared themselves a fan of one or the other team but otherwise would never watch American Football or know anything about it. Though same could be said of Wimbledon, and fair enough I've been known to watch that while having no other interest in tennis, but then at least it's British (currently with Murray's success).

Absolutely zero interest in the Super Bowl myself along with every other game of chucking a non-ball shaped object about and claiming it has anything to do with use of feet and stopping the game every 10 seconds to faff about.

That's exactly what I thought until I went to a game just over a year ago.
It's an excellent spectator sport and goes a lot quicker than people think, the problem in the UK is that it's usually only the Superbowl that they get to see, which lasts far longer with more ad breaks than a normal in season game.
If you really want to be entertained watch some of the college games, I think all the college teams are coached by King Kev! 🙂

College football is brilliant I agree, huge crowds slightly different rules, crazy plays. For a very tenuous reason I follow Nebraska 😆

I have no idea of how the divisions are organised PAC 12 etc etc

It's called "football" for the same reason ours is - it's played ON foot (as opposed to, say, polo), it's nothing to do with kicking anything despite a number of UK football fans thinking they're clever.

It's one of the very few spectator sports I've ever had an interest in, I'd rather go do something than watch someone else having fun. I like it largely because despite initial outward appearances it's a highly technical / tactical game, and because I used to play it (non-contact) at school.

In the 80s I watched it pretty religiously. These days interest has waned a bit as the novelty has worn off somewhat, plus I'm no longer home alone so have that to consider (though I might watch next season in retaliation for the hours of "I'm a Strictly Celebrity's Brother On Ice Factor, Get Me On Television" that I've sat through). I still like to watch the 'Bowl when it's on though.

With the "rise" of defence in recent years, much of the points in games are now scored by FGs as well.

Have followed the raiders since the mid 80s. But for 'that' play it could have been us this year.

Can't stand the pats. Anyone but them.

Realistically they'll win it by 12

I very nearly made it my job to watch the superbowl in a pub, this year. But the bastard whose job it actually is, changed his plans and now he can go. I don't know anything about irongrids, I just wanted to put it in my cv.

*unless NE perform some kind of miracle. They needed to score next after going 0-14 but crikey, they really need the next score now.

It might just be me but the overtime rules seem a little unfair. No opportunity for the second team to have an attempt to score in the event of a touchdown seems harsh and makes the result a bit random to my eyes. Quite the game though I agree.

Wow. Just reading reports. First OT in Superbowl history. I didn't stay up but if I had i would have gone to bed at half time for sure 😳

Haven't seen highlights but you have to feel for Atlanta, they must be gutted.

Yep, I had Pats written off by half time. Glad I stayed up to watch the rest. Can't stand Belicheck but no denying he a great coach.

Disagree Brady getting MVP but they usually give it to the QB

Well as a Pats fan who stayed up what feels like all night...I'm oscillating between elation and feeling sick due to lack of sleep/caffeine overdose.

When I finally went to bed I could barely get to sleep due to the amount of adrenaline.

What a game!

I bet Mark Wahlberg is gutted - he left in the 3rd! 😆

My other half won £50 from a fiver, she put it on with about 5 minutes to go on normal time. The odds when it was 28-3 must have been astronomical!

I managed to watch it all. Probably because I didn't have any beer due to manflu.

You could tell from the pats first td that they had properly found their rythmn. Still the falcons should have won. Atlanta failed to manage the clock, gave away 3 consecutive defensive holding penalties on 3 consecutive 3rd downs and totally bollocksed up a great field position.

I dislike Brady intensely but fair play.

Slightly O/T, but

A whole bunch of my American friends on facebook have been saying that the Patriots are a teams of cheats.

What are they on about?

I am not a Patriots fan but "deflategate" was bobbins, truth is Belichick is a fantastic coach, Brady the GOAT and they are a winning machine. A bit like the All Blacks in rugby. People don't like them because they win, they had no right to win it last night but they did.

First Bowl I've missed since they were televised here due to being unwell but boy after watching it today, what an astonishing game. I honestly thought the Falcons would win before the game and sort of wanted them to as neutral fan (I'm a Cowboy fan for my sins) but what an astonishing comeback by the Pats. Edelmans catch off the tip was one of the greatest I've ever seen. Not skill wise but for sheer determination and a will to win. He's a brilliant receiver. Brady is without doubt the GOAT for QB's and he's got 5 rings to prove it. And he still wants more too.

, greatest comeback since TJ

🙂

I have a soft spot for Belichick as he was defensive coordinator for Giants under Parcell when I lived in NY, he has an outstanding record. Teams don't comeback like that without some leadership and great coaching (and yes he has to bear some responsibility for the 3-28 hole)

Well that was an eye opener.

I've tried watching loads of times over the years, but never really got it until now.

Surprised myself by really, really enjoying the whole thing.
🙂
Great game!

Wife and stepkids have been fans for years.
I've always fallen asleep before kick off.

Suppose I need a team now.
Possibly two, a pretty crap lower league team and one of the big boys?
Spread the love and all that.

Hmm, who would be the equivalent of say, Sheffield United (my team, may God forgive me) and say Burnley?
🙂

Mrs supports Chicago.
Apparantly she saw them playing in London BITD, which is good enough for me.

Managed to avoid knowing the result and watched it recorded last night, at half time was thinking there was no way back for the Patriots, also thinking Edelman was having a 'mare as he seemed to drop everything thrown his way. Thought Lady Gaga was a poor half time show, then wow, what a second half. If ever there was a game of 2 halves this was it, think the Falcons lack of experience caught them out eventually with poor time management and also unnecessary penalties. Where did Edelman get that catch from, sheer brilliance. great advert for the NFL overall. feel sorry for the Falcons but at the same time gotta admire the Pat's for their resolve.
